Explosive Commentary

Filed under: exploding mailboxes, kaz-bot — jasbeattie @ 9:30 am

Jason has left the safe confines of the blog-o-sphere in order to go interact with other humans face-to-face for a few days. In his absence the automatic Gil Thorp blogging robot KAZ-BOT will be filling in!

KAZ-BOT answers reader questions today!

Hi KAZ-BOT. So what’s the deal, is Jason ever coming back?

KAZ-BOT believes the slacker human may resurface tomorrow. KAZ-BOT has certainly had enough of this nonsense for a few months and will not be posting again tomorrow.

What’s going on in the plot over the last few days?

KAZ-BOT feels the transpirings of Milford over the last 5 days are really too complex to go into detail here.

You said it. I certainly can’t believe what all happened myself. Everything certainly moved either too fast or too slow, was either confusing or dull, but most definitely was unrealistic and didn’t feature enough things blowing up.

KAZ-BOT feels there is no such thing as too many explosions.

One more, while I got you here…so why does Coach Kaz wear two giant pearl earrings?

Coach Kaz is a cyborg. Those aren’t earrings, they’re holes where death ray lasers shoot out when he gets mad.

Really?

Nah. KAZ-BOT makes everything up like any good blogger. Now off to watch some huge explosions.

  1. In panel two, Elmer appears so startled by the second baseman’s remark that he dropped his loofah.

Clambake surely overhears the revenge plot in the dugout and, in the next day or so, will be imparting a lesson on discrimination to the Milford boys. “There’ll be no plunkin’ going’ on dadgum it.”

  2. Actually, after Bouchard’s attempt to plunk the opposing batter goes awry, Pop will step in to give beanball lessons to the whole team. “Imagine different pitches, high, low, but focus on the same asshole when you throw.”

  3. Yes, I also sense a moral lesson from Clambake in the offing. I’m puzzled by the line in panel 1 for two reasons:

    – Does the team listen to Marty Moon’s pay-by-play during the game?

    – Why would Elmer’s teammates think he would be upset at being called “the glue of the offense”? I’d understand being upset if Marty called him “the Bandito of the Basepaths” or “Our Favorite Wetback” or some such, but not this.

Have a nice long rest, Kaz-Bot. A couple more days of “Gil Thorp” would probably have you billowing smoke like that super-smart robot in “Star Trek” that Captain Kirk defeated with a display of stupid logic.

  4. Isn’t Elmer being a little too sensitive? Hasn’t the Bandito of the Basepaths encountered racism before in his life? I need the back story of Elmer’s life, I must know why this slightly mean comment bothers him so much.

  5. Why would Elmer’s teammates think he would be upset at being called “the glue of the offense”?

Because he has a face like a horse.

  6. Panel 2 confused the hell out of me. I didn’t realize it was a flashback to Elmer’s double until Tim Goral pointed it out.

Why would Elmer’s teammates think he would be upset at being called “the glue of the offense”?

Because it is an awful Bermanesque pun; not unlike my handle. You ever hear of Elmer’s glue, man?

  7. But I do wonder how Elmer would have heard Marty’s play by play. I suppose they could put it on the PA system, but wouldn’t Grant Sanders have heard it as well?

    I may be overanalyzing this.

Guh. I totally missed that. Thanks.

  9. The deliberate use of the word “steamed” in panel one foreshadowed the inevitable appearance of Clambake.
