Time for a weekend edition of secret thoughts…
Panel 1:
Peg-Leg Bill: Why, oh why did I get the Tiny Tim crutches?
Grant Sanders: Apparently I am Grant Sanders.
Gil: I forgot to mention the reason I was fighting for the title was because we were only two guys on base with boxing gloves.
Panel 2:
Gil: I suck. I suck. I suck. I suck.
Panel 3:
Hopalong Bill: Well, he sucks, but let’s see if he can knock down a one-legged kid who has zero training!
Gil: Aw, crap I’m not gonna get roped into doing any work with these kids this summer. I’m gonna take all of 2007 off, damn it! Fortunately, I have a friend I can refer him to: Former bouncer, former lineman…and unlike me, he actually won a boxing match…I’ll just sent Bill to:

(Hypnotic, isn’t it?)
And just in case ya lost it in the comments, make sure you check out ElSanto’s Milford Matrix masterpiece:

Did anybody else flash back to “Million Dollar Baby” after reading panel 3?

I can only think of one thing after this installment: “One Leg Too Few” by Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. Classic comedy sketch about a one-legged actor auditioning for the role of Tarzan. “It is in the leg department that you are deficient, to the tune of one.”

So the summer plotline is going to involve one legged boxing? I can honestly say I did not expect that.

Well, Bill Ritter wanted to continue to be involved in athletics. I guess he really misses activity that might lead to concussions.

That trailer is phenomenal. But I can’t take my eyes off of Kaz knocking Bill’s head off. As for the strip, I’m just curious about what happened to Sean Pettibone. Did he drop Bill off and leave? Was he just ditching his loser peg-leg friend on Coach Thorp because he didn’t want to hang out with Bill anymore?

Nice one, johnw. Cook and Moore! Ha. I wish I could find their “Frog and Peach” sketch somewhere.
I want to put the Kaz Boxing Academy animated gif on my desktop so I can hypnotize myself into getting through another work week. Gil Thorp isn’t going to help any. This is just plain dumb.
Does Bill Ritter have any prosthesis whatsoever? I guess they gave up on fitting him with new ones until he figures out how much of his leg he wants to saw off.
Is there any way this summer arc could culminate in a Gil vs. Kaz bareknuckles boxing match? I mean after Kaz get’s done punching his way through all the drunken Gail Martinistas in Central City and Gil gets done beating the crap out of Stumpy Ritter, it’s only natural that the people will demand a showdown between Army Boxer Also-ran and Ex-Bouncer Drunkpuncher. Put your bets down now. I hear Marty Moon’s itching to get some action. Also, if Don King got involved, could he earn a spot in the Pantheon of Hair, or is his ‘do just not weird enough?
Now it’s time to start combing Milford’s retirement castles to unearth some ancient, possibly black, alleged cornermen for Sonny Liston and Archie Moore to work our contenders’ corners. Once these guys are established, Gil and Kaz can slowly back out of the picture, go get some beers and blow the match off all together, leaving seconds Pegleg Ritter and Old Man/Butler/Gail Martin Grampa to square off.
That should bring us up to football season.
