Poor Mimi Thorp. She’s been waiting for sexy times with Gil for days, but he’s been dithering about how he’s going to handle his star pitcher, Backyard Tire Fire. (That’s his star pitcher, right, or is it that guy manning the Krup at the Coffee Craphole? I’ve been a little distracted and unable to pay attention to the kick off to this baseball plot.) Speaking of distracted, Mimi is staring up at those wood beams and thinking about doing a little dithering herself, because Gil’s priorities are pretty well known. He loves his GIL mug and polishing that baseball trophy. After that, he’s into Early Times, Butch Wax, trimming his nose hairs and making half-hearted attempts at satisfying Mrs. Thorp. He’s kind of fond of the kids too, but they’ve been at camp for three years or else they might rank ahead of the nose hair trimming.
At practice, we find that Gil’s priorities are flexible.
Poor Mimi.

Yes, Derek is a privileged character here and can show up whenever, as opposed to the other pitchers who play right field in games when they’re not pitching.

Mimi has rolled on her side and is giving Gil the cold shoulder. Calling him a ditherer is like calling him a nerd – which, of course, he is. And Gil’s priorities ARE pretty well known: the PUB, Margie Dulcy, Torrey the golf chick, and the PUB again.
At least Mimi can go back to dreaming about Steve Lumm – he with the long mop and broom handle!

Shed no tears for Mimi. She’s reaching for the Rabbit in her nightstand drawer.
I do like Chief Whigham’s subtle touch there: one panel after a portrait in marital frustration, we get a brace of huge, erect WOOD right there in our faces.

Judging by Mimi’s body language, I think Mimi’s get the situation *ahem* “in hand” already.
Gil’s main priority is getting blitzed at PUB>

Looks like Mimi’s dreaming of a date with Messrs. Hillerich and Bradsby.
Meanwhile, Gil’s players are asking themselves, “Where did the fungo?”
No practice, no playdowns.

Blog is getting behind – Panel 1 of Monday is a laugh for a change. The double standard by Gil is sure to rear its ugly head. And we meet Glory Glory Hallelujuh, the new softball assistant. The Mudlarks are marching on. And now we have 2 singer/softball/baseball players. Will Mimi give FloJo the same rope as Gil gives Derek? Will they discuss it in bed?? Tune in next time – same Larktime, same Larkchannel!
