The Great Debate: The Ever Classy Black & White or the Realization of Ted Turner’s Lifelong Ambition?

Filed under: Boredom in Milford, Gil Thorp, metapost — timbuys @ 5:58 pm

Here’s your chance to influence the blog by casting a vote in a non-scientific poll the results of which are not binding upon anyone (although I will personally go with the majority decision in my posts). In keeping with the non-scientific part, I’ll state that I prefer Gil Thorp in black and white as it really shows off the linework to good effect. The colors don’t particularly add very much for me the vast majority of the time and scenes where Milford Red fills the panel are just ugly. On the other hand, the site where I get my source images carries them in color so that’s convenient and, also, Kaz with blue hair still makes me chuckle.

  1. I voted for B&W. The coloring is strange at best, and it doesn’t cure the female moustaches. I agree, the deciding issue is the screens full of red uniforms.
OTOH, I have no problem with the person putting up the post doing whatever is easiest.

  2. Agree, Dale, but the blue-black greaser do on Kaz has to go.

  3. The artwork looks better in black-and-white, but with color we get a whole new world of glorious mistakes. Take Saturday’s strip for example, apparently (slender sophomore) Ric Devore is now black.
