Best Panels of 2007: and the Winners are…

Filed under: metapost — jasbeattie @ 6:10 pm

The results are finally in! Here are your 2007 winners for the Best Gil Thorp Panels:
(see the nominations here)

First up, with a commanding 50% of the vote, the “Ridiculous Violence” division winner:

Tyler Jay clubs himself!

In the “Style of Milford” division, the winner, with 37% of the vote, is the one, the only…:

The “Rock n’ Roll Carol King”, Gail Martin!

(Marty Moon, in his pimp-tastic coat, have voiced a complaint that Gail should be disqualified, due to not actually being from Milford, but nobody heard him, as he was broadcasting from his electricity-free basement lair again.)

And in a very closely contested three-way contest, the champ in the the “Wacky-Ass Quotes” Division, at 37%, (and winner by a mere 13 votes):

Don Gil’s hit request!

Alas, Marty Moon is still alive.

Finally, the Award for “Best Panel I inexplicably forgot to include in the voting” goes to:

Kaz says “D’oh!” and is simultaneously slapped by a cougar!

Well, that frighteningly wraps up the best of last year. Thanks for voting!

Up next: Can you even begin to handle the “Worst of 2007”?

  1. I just noticed that Tyler Jay has a curl of hair in the front like Superman and Andrew Gregory. I’ll leave it at that.

  2. Maybe Andrew Gregory is actually Tyler’s alter.

  3. The results are pimp-tastic! Thanks Jason!

  4. Not that this matters anymore, but is that supposed to be Bruce Britt on stage with Gail? Or Maureen Monte? No one resembling anything even close to that “musician” ever appears again in that gripping whodunit. Whoever it is, maybe he left the show after the Milford stop because Gail never appreciated him.

  5. Great job as always Jason – thanks!

As for picking out the worst ones for us to vote on, should be a piece o’ cake for ya.
Hint: Panels where a body part is missing or unrecognizable, etc. sound like a good place to start looking.

  6. Roy Gillen: To be fair, in later entries Gail Kim herself never resembles her fabulous first appearance.

  7. *Sigh* I meant Gail Martin. No more TNA Wrestling Impact! for me.

  8. I’m actually glad you left out the Kaz cougar slap, as that really deserves attention by itself. Such awesome detail, down to the glimmer on Kaz’ earring.

  9. Roy – My life isn’t quite bankrupt enough to go through the archives right now, but I’m pretty sure that’s her bassist, who shared a name with some musician friend of Neal’s. Bruce “Rough-Looking Dude” Britt was the guitarist, Cliff “Droopy” Wrobek was the drummer, and this nondescript gentleman was the bass player.

  10. Let’s face it, when a cougar starts mauling you, what else is there to say but “D’oh”?

  14. Doesn’t Gil bear a eerie striking resemblence to Biff from “Son of Flubber”?
Could it be that Milford is going to inflate their halfback with Flu…..bber…gas……..nah, couldn’t be. Thorpiverse wouldn’t stoop that low, would they? Would they?
