Smell ya later…

Jason is away for the weekend…and KAZ-BOT is too damned lazy to write anything. So if you’re so inclined, just mosey on over to check out the latest comic, and then write a little something about what ya read. Or just come back Tuesday, if you’re the lazy type too. Smell ya later, folks.

  1. OK, an opinion: With the game/playdowns now being over for Milturd, what a POOR ending to a story line that could have been entertaining. Please Mr. Rubin how ’bout a little more effort next time. And look up cohesion in a dictionary. Rasberries.

  2. You think this storyline is over? It ain’t over until I SAY it’s over!

  3. And another Milford season lands with a thud. When was the last time they won anything? Why does Gil still have a job, when his teams suck and he doesn’t seem to be involved at all? Does he have filthy pictures of the Superintendent?

    Two quibbles:

    — Marty is wrong. If you “were” down to your last out, you still “are” even if you load the bases.

    — The trajectory of the ball in panel 3 is absolutely otherworldly. Baseballs don’t do that.

  4. Have a great weekend ya lazy bum! You think just because you have an established website you don’t have to work as much as all us other comics bloggers?!?

In Milford news, baseball still isn’t exciting.

  5. Messrs. Rubin and Whigham have a bet going. That must be it. Who can spend less time on the strip?

  6. Steve Rosen apparently had an assectomy.

But hey, Elmer’s been deported and Milford’s dreary baseball season has come to an appropriately stupid end. Let’s start this weekend early!!!

  7. What did we learn this season? Steve Rosen sucks (and some other stuff, the memory of which I’m about to start erasing with alcohol).

    Comment by Ned Ryerson — July 11, 2008 @ 12:34 pm

  8. Obviously, it’s important that the Mudlarks don’t just win all the time, but it does seem like Neal’s gone overboard on the losing end. When was the last time Gil coached a team to the playdowns? Much less won anything once there? I think the reason for this is pretty obvious: Neal is terrible at pacing his plots, and always has to extend the season just to wrap-up his non-game storylines. That leaves him less than no time to spend on post-season action.

  9. Cash, I seem to recall that in the 1990s (’80s?) Milford teams were winning championships left and right. As you imply, that was just as boring, and even more infuriating.

  10. My spam filter caught two spams in a row from )different) people using ‘Milford’ as a first name. Hmmm. Is Marty Moon desperate for booze money? Or is it Gil? Does he have an out of control tab at PUB?

  11. Okay Jason, you’re gettin’ as lazy as Chief Whigham and Rubin! Have a great weekend!

    Comment by Regina — July 11, 2008 @ 5:22 pm

  12. On second thought…no one can be more lazy than those two slackers…at least you don’t phone in your blog!

    Comment by Regina — July 11, 2008 @ 5:25 pm

  13. This just hammers home the lesson to Curleyhorse that while it might be nice in theory to deport all illegal immigrants, so much of our day-to-day livelihood depends upon their contribution.

    It’s a conundrum, for sure.

  14. Wasn’t there a girl pitcher that was un-hittable? What happened to her? There were even hints, long ago, that she was going to pitch for the boys.

    Comment by ScooterAl — July 11, 2008 @ 7:04 pm

  15. Didn’t Milford will the Valley during The International Year of Clambacke (2007)?

    Comment by Doug Puthoff — July 11, 2008 @ 7:27 pm

  16. Saturday’s strip: will this storyline ever end.

I have this great idead of a summer strip: Tyler Jay and his girlfriend/ex-girlfriend go on a transcontinental killing spree on their way to find Clambake. When the see him they kill him. too. But on the third day Clambake returns. Forty days later, he ascends into Heaven and declares Barack Obama his proxy until he returns.

    Comment by Doug Puthoff — July 12, 2008 @ 6:38 am

  17. Panel 2: Would someone please re-wrap the headless mummy and stuff him back in his locker? The Necronomicon clearly states that the mummy shall not arise until a Milford team actually wins a playdown…er…-off.

    Comment by Everett — July 14, 2008 @ 6:56 am

  18. Monday’s strip: I think it’s so nice of Brenden to befriend those two giant freak girls. They must be ostracized by the whole school. Hey, there’s our next plotline!

  19. The storyline that wouldn’t leave.
