Today’s exercise:

  1. Stretch all them fancy muscles you got, for as long as you can tolerate doing so.
  2. Attempt to high-five your friend at angle portrayed in Panel 2 without dislocating your arm.
  3. Dislocate your arm.

Further proof of the proliferation of stunt hands in Milford.

“You know why I don’t want to pitch, Amanda.”
“Too soon after the sex change operation,  Slim…er I mean Darby?”
“Well, that, plus the reformed band, Slim Snippins and the No Sacks, will be leaving town on tour next month!”

Hey look, everyone’s favorite not-Mimi female coach, Glory “Whole” Alpaca is back-a! And Mimi still thinks she gets paid. How adorable.

Meanwhile, with the boys, the new Cully Clone 3.0 is finally ready (“now with twice the chromosomes!”) Unfortunately, it thinks its officially awesome, and it’s only a matter of time before it escapes its cage and starts murdering the townspeople. Wait, did I say “unfortunately”? I meant “hopefully”…

  1. I cannot possibly top “Slim Snippins and the No-Sacks,” so I will simply repeat my comment from the last thread and slink away…

Recycled Gil Thorp Plotline #4, “great athlete who doesn’t want to come out for the team, but will change his/her mind through the deft application of Thorp Magic.” I can’t hardly wait.

Oh, one other thing. Nice that the guy in the gerbil cage thinks he’s awesome.

  2. Hey, jvwalt, isn’t that “great athlete who doesn’t want to come out for the team, but will change his/her mind through the deft application of Thorp Magic, but only after the season is so far gone there’s no chance of making the postseason”?

What says the player in 3/14 panel 3 will be modeled on Bryce Harper? Given my total whiff on predicting a hepatitis C outbreak in the last arc, I’m not so sure.

  3. I’m hoping we’ll have an “awesome” plot like finding out that Darby and Amanda are life partners. Now THAT would be awesome. But I know Gil Thorp, so I am fastening my seat belt for a bizarre and disappointing story arc. (Reference: tattoo guy from Dayton pretending to be from New Zealand selling legitimate videos with not so legitimate covers).

As for “Mr. Awesome” he does look like the Frankenstein monster getting readyy to attack unsuspectinbg villagers.

Speaking of sex changes: did Glory “Whole” Alpalca have one over the past year? “It’s a man, baby!”

  4. Wait, so we’re done with the Tattoo Guy? Just like that? Gil tells the dude he’s a dweeb, then just walks away? Kaz was right there with him, so where’s the punching? WHERE’S MY @#$%! PUNCHING??

  5. “Slim Snippins and the No Sacks” made me laugh so hard, I don’t think I’ll ever get all the tea out of my nose. Cheers, Jason!

  6. Agreed Jules, Jason outdid himself with that one. “It’s official. JASON IS AWESOME!”

    Comment by Regina — March 14, 2012 @ 7:11 am

  7. 6. Right you are Regina! I buy tickets to the “Jason is awesome” show too. And I toss into the jar.

Well, it appears there’s going to be a boy’s baseball team member who’s all full of himself. Wow, this is a novel character type for Mr. Rubin. It’s about time the guy used this character concept. I don’t know why he hasn’t thought of it before. PS Mr. Rubin, look up the term one trick pony.

  8. SemperFi? Whatever did become of Jamar Gaddis? Did he just kind of fade away?

  9. Have we had a “teenaged mother” plot line yet? Something tells me that’s what we’re about to see.

  10. Have we had a “teenaged mother” plot line yet? Something tells me that’s what we’re about to see.

I don’t think so, unless you count the plot line from about 10 years ago when the Thorps took in a pregnant teen and she wouldn’t stop hitting on Gil.

  11. In the 1980’s one of Gil’s players got his girlfriend pregnant (I forget the name – I’ll look it up when I get back from travels). I think she had a miscarrage during an important game – problem solved.

  12. 8. vaganova – Yup that’s what I recall; Third-person-singular talkin’ Gaddis [the Ghost, right?] just faded away like tools Sacko und Hatt and [memory fails] the arrogant kid who first used the term ‘tank town’. Crimmeny, so many jerk-o characters developed then tossed away. Heck, did I have a stroke and forget or did we ever learn if the Girl’s BB team went to the playdowns? Did the fake Aussie slash Gil’s & Kaz’s tires? Did Gil and Kaz go off and do things with each other that is probably still illegal in some states? Sigh… we’ll never know.

  13. i think rubin wants to write for that show the L word after seeing the interaction between his female charecters . but after seeing the last panal from his tattoo storyline you can see he wants to write the screenplay to brokeback mountain 2

  14. Terry Turner knocked up Laura Patton in the fall/winter of 1978/1979. Laura had a miscarriage before the quarterfinal b-ball game, Terry was late to the game and Gil would not let him play, and the Mudlarks lose.

And Mimi (“Miss Clover”) was not nearly so hot back then!

  15. vaganova@9: I can buy that especially given 3/13 P3.

    Comment by delvaldawg — March 16, 2012 @ 5:18 am

  16. delvaldawg@15, we may both be imagining things, but that’s the exact panel that suggested the idea to me.
