Metapost: A Posting Schedule Emerges?

Filed under: metapost — timbuys @ 5:48 pm

Hi everybody,

First thing’s first, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of spam that gets through the filters provided by the good people at WordPress. However, when it does, I have to admit to enjoying sending it to spam oblivion. A recent one appeared to be a fairly innocuous promotion of some video or another. Which, while I wouldn’t normally comment on it, provides truly flattering text about us posters and commenters that I found to be quite salutary. So, with that in mind, I hope all posters and commenters can hold their heads high when reading the following no doubt very sincere verbatim (weird line breaks and all) rendering of their compliment:

Right here is the right blog for everyone who wants to
understand this topic. You know so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I
really will need to…HaHa). You certainly put a fresh spin on a topic that’s been written about for a long time.
Wonderful stuff, just excellent!

Yes, yes, indeed. That just about perfectly sums it all up. Good stuff!

Second, in the comments last Friday I think we got something like a posting schedule. Bearing in mind that I am absolutely not in charge of anything to do with this blog other than my own posts, it seems as though this is how we’re going to try and do it:

Monday through Wednesday: TimP (aka timbuys) – Note that Mondays look like they will always be a bit tough for me to do, but I’ll do what I can.

Thursday: teenchy

Friday: Rob – except when I get excited about something like Kaz having blue hair and forget… still sorry about stepping on your toes there, Rob!

Saturday: teenchy

I’m sure there will be some shuffling around as all of us do actually have things to do other than comment on Gil Thorp, but I think that’s what we’re unofficially going with for now.

UPDATE: Just to be clear, I’m pretty cool with anyone taking one of ‘my’ days. Frankly, it often comes as a relief when I see that I don’t have to come with something to say about some of these strips.

  1. Yeah, the spam filter is pretty good. Sometimes it made me feel bad that a post from billytheskink or one of our other resident Gil Thorp historians’ posts would get stopped, usually I think because they contained multiple links to the old strips. By the time I noticed them, sometimes we were on to the next day’s strip.
Tim, I might be open to dipping my toes back into the waters here. Perhaps I could do Mondays and lighten your load a bit.

  2. Tim, as you say, you’re not in charge, so maybe I should just say, hearing no objections, I’ll post Mondays.
