This Week in Milford

Purple Perfection

Looks like Marty has moved into the 21st century with his laptop that has an arrow pointing to a window within the primary window on the screen. High school baseball must really be sophisticated if the announcer needs a laptop for it. P2 – no catcher nearby to contest this run?  And we have a purple keyboard, batting gloves and chest protector. I have a feeling Dillon will get his no-hitter this time in a losing effort to finish the season for the Mudlarks, making Luckey feel better about his misplay earlier.

I recall a Yankees – White Sox game in 1990 or so, in old Comiskey Park, where the White Sox were no-hit but still won the game 3-0. I think the pitcher was Andy Hawkins. The Yankees made some errors that gave the Sox unearned runs, and Hawkins only needed to pitch 8 innings for his no-no, and tough loss. You watch enough baseball you see everything; that was one for the ages.

  1. Milford — finding novel ways to miss the playdowns in the last game, every season, every sport! And yet the Thorps still have jobs.

  2. Except that White Sox game probably wasn’t in Chicago if he only pitched 8. But I do love this site!

  3. tedkin the game was in Chicago & he pitched for yankees; Sox 4, NY 0… Faye Vincent changed the rules, so it is not an official “no hitter”

  4. So, I have pretty large hands. Not freakishly large, but bigger than average, long fingers and all… I bring this up because that freak hand in panel two – assuming that is a standard 8.5×11 sheet of paper – is friggin’ monstrous. Then again, we are in perspective hell as that laptop Marty has looks like one of those weird netbooks (or whatever they were called) that were (not so) popular years ago…

  5. Panel one, panel two…. why should I obsess with details like that? Oh wait, that’s half the point of this blog… whoops!

  6. More no-hitter jinxing!

In addition to Marty’s freak hand and/or tiny netbook in PA, where the heck is the back of his head? It kind of peters out along with his headset.

  8. Had tickets for that game but decided not to go. An old Comiskey classic!
