Accessories? It’s the Milford Way!

In the real world, some high school football regular seasons are only about two weeks away. In Milford, on the shores of Lake Erie Hubbell Pond some body of water larger than a swimming pool, it’s still all about 7-on-7 – and a potential mutiny. The verbal face slap laid on Jarrod by unnamed teammate is so loud even beach blanket blonde bikini babe with the belly button on the bias has to turn her head to look.

Then, after a one-day hiatus we’re back to telephones. Gil, who at some point must’ve slipped True his digits, offers to take a break from his grueling supervision of the junior grass scythers to meet up with him. I don’t think this is the Coffee Cantina ’cause we’d have seen its trademark “concentric C’s” mugs already, but the drive to the Central City Hilt would be too much effort on Gil’s part so it probably is the CC. Maybe the mug’s spun around to conceal the logo and, probably, the big bangle bracelets True’s wearing on his right wrist.

Oh? Those aren’t the accessories Gil’s referring to? You think it’s the loosely wrapped ankle bandage and FDR’s crutches? I’m curious (but only mildly curious as I can’t be bothered to look it up) as to whether Gil taking the initiative to go to True, and not vice versa, is some sort of violation of the Unwritten Rules of Summer 7-on-7 Prep Football. Maybe it will mess with True’s eligibility and give Gil yet another excuse to not actually have to coach him.

  1. If you check out the color strip on Comics Kingdom, in panel 2, Gil is wearing a red onesie.

Also, those crutches look like the weapons “Kirk and Spock had to fight with.

  2. “No worries, Coach. this injury has little to no impact on the future which is to say that this entire week has been a complete waste of the readers’ time. Serves ’em right I’d say.”

Hey, since when did Gil start tuning into the churning rumor mill anyway? That may be the most implausible part of this story yet.

  3. I think that’s the Valley Tech coach. Tiny hands, and a bit older.

  4. Is that the old UPN Network logo on Gil’s shirt?

  5. I thought Wally Lamb was the official Milford doctor!

This would be great! Doctor calls Twue, says blood work tests showed something: Twue has a terrible, incurable malady and doesn’t have long to live. A few days of ” we hardly knew him”, and then on to the start of school and fall football – a “twuely” wasted summer and a new high/low for Wingrub!

  6. Wally will be the one to run onto the field and stop play, on grounds that False has pushed True into playing before he is adequately healed. False will confront Gil for complying and sitting True, and when False accuses him of not knowing anything about that American icon, high school football, Gil will ask him what size cleats he wears. Then, to distract everyone from the rapidly developing melee, new agility coach Molly Kinsella will streak across the fifty yard line wearing a cardboard bikini as Herk the Mauler eyes False, rolling up his sleeves…

  7. Mil & Vag—I truly like your imagination…..Maybe True’s injury is misdiagnosed and a liagment issue…

  8. I’m going to make a prediction. The usual summer story appears instead to be the fall football story starting early — so maybe that means they have allotted extra time in the strip calendar for Milford to actually make the playdowns!

If that happens you heard it here first.
