This Week in Milford

Well look who forgot his locker combination.

Hey – Milford is actually starting school roughly the same time as the rest of the universe – whoopee! And look who decided to go to Milford after all – none other then True, who somehow accomplished the scholastic impossibility of transfering in the blink of an eye. How about Gil actually walking the halls and finding him at his locker? Another first! Now the only problem is getting him legally on the football team, then seeing if he can actually play or not. All we’ve seen football-wise is his picture on a smartphone in pads. Wonder how that ankle’s doing – the bonfire is probably next week sometime with the opener Saturday night. But first things first – that locker combo. If he has nothing in it yet who gives a crap what it is?

  2. Somehow I don’t think True is the kid who forgot his locker combination. (Maybe he has True stuffed inside.) Can’t help but notice Rubin falling into the use of True puns, which makes think we’ll get that Truman Show reference before long.

I’m hung up on the girl’s reference to science class in P2. After Wednesday’s weight/muscle gain and yesterday’s chemistry quip it feels like more foreshadowing of steroid use. Then again she could’ve had a Teen Talk Barbie doll growing up.

  3. Zounds and odds bodkins, the plot thickens!
Well, we all figured Twoo was going to come crashing back into Gil’s bailiwick like a concrete space shuttle, so here he is, and now the possible roid ring, frustrated sports dad, and the all-important bonfire can all hurtle onward to our unfailing amusement.

  4. FoolyRain is onto something (no, not anabolics.) Not since “Bonfire of the Vanities” have I seen so many seemingly unrelated plots on collision course.

We have a day off tomorrow. We should be making book on the backstory (how True overcame False and ended up trying to open a locker at Mfnrd HS.)

  5. To be cited by one as noted as you, Vaganova, is quite an honor for a fresh-faced Johnny-come-lately commenter as myself. Thank you.
But on a more salient note, I don’t know, Teenchy. It could be an attempt at foreshadowing (albeit kinda heavy), or a really, really hamfisted (so much you can see the Honeybaked label) attempt at background/filler/ambiance-type chatter. We’ll only know at the bitter end.

  6. Jeeze, FoolyRain, there is no pecking order here (I thought of citing the famous Kaz scene “Easy up, friend” but will instead say simply “Welcome aboard.”) Smart observations such as yours are always well received, but dumb ones are too so don’t feel any pressure.
