Worst Carpetbagger in US History

Well, I cant say I blame Jarrod for Gil allowing True on the team on merit. All we’ve seen him do is throw a few footballs to JV players. Everyone else had to go thru tryouts and the full preseason workouts, and the skill position players also played 7 on 7 all the hot summer long. The only weight True lifted was his boot. Football players can be like that; its a real fraternity that doesnt always like someone just walking on without paying their dues.

That being said, he can keep his opinions to himself about other players, especially his position mates. He should go to Gil about that stuff, not blab around to everyone else, but thats why this strip is what it is, and Gil will always be the last to find out about any friction amoung teammates. And anyway, he hasnt lost his starting job, (Yet) but he will if he worries too much about True mopping up and otherwise standing on the sideline.

  1. To be fair to Jarrod, he’s not talking about those stupid 7-on-7 games. He’s talking about the secret nude mud-wrestling sessions where the players bonded Sparta-style. That’s a bonding experience you just can’t duplicate by trotting on the field and throwing a pick-six.

  2. Just a counterexample for everyone’s consideration. At my school we had a kid who was QB for his age group from middle school onward. In preseason for his senior year, a “True” moved to town and the coaches chose to start the new kid instead. The kid who was passed over went to the head coach’s office after that practice and said “OK, coach, do you want me to be Mike’s backup or do you want me to learn another position?”

That’s how it’s done on a actual “team.”

The kid who was passed over, incidentally, became the punter, and effectively won a couple of games by putting opponents in terrible positions.

  3. Methinks Jarrod’s followers are going to start defecting soon.

  4. Ha-ha! Not-Omari told Jarrod to ‘ease up’. Longtime readers will know that’s one of the sickest burns you can use in Milford….
