Hail Jarrod, the king of Milford

And its time for ol Jarrod to have his long-awaited moment in the sun, as he basks in the adulation of the homecoming crowd and scores a TD in the process. Now we know he didnt give a rats ass about where he played, as long as he got what he truly wanted: the glory. Even True is in the stands cheering for him, and running back down to the sidelines to dirty his face and remark about what an odd duck the guy is whose place he took behind center. I’m sure True really doesnt mind being 2nd banana, but we’ll see how long before another conflict arises.

  1. Building off the comments to yesterday’s strip, this twist is still absurd. It reminds me of those frequent punching bags over at the Curmudgeon and elsewhere: For Better or for Worse‘s (a/k/a FOOB’s) Anthony and the title character in Luann. We were constantly told how wonderful those characters were but never shown any evidence of it, what the TV Tropes folks refer to as Informed Ability.

Seriously, the Standish-to-Hale TD pass could’ve been used as an example of “now let’s all play nice” but now it’s being turned into an opportunity to show True as having a jealous streak. I guess he has to have more clay added to his feet besides his meddlesome dad.

  4. Bobby Joe, I asked that myself…. Maybe he had his cult following faction of the football team stuff the ballot box…

  5. This storyline is going nowhere – I have a bad feeling that it will fizzle and die a stupid death like drug-dealing football guy or doing-nothing-illegal tattoo guy.

  6. This storyline is so busy running all over the place that it’s almost out of gas.
