Net Effect? Is That Supposed To Be A Basketball Pun?

Nothing like the awkward depictions of awkward teen romance in Gil Thorp to keep the story moving right along. Will we get to see Ricozzi’s? Surely, this place must be pretty swank, even for a tank town like Milford.

Meanwhile, in Comput Class, we get a recap of the first two panels courtesy of Bobby’s buddy there. For a strip that has in the past been a little bit OCD about reminding us who’s named who, I don’t recall them mentioning this guy’s name despite him being a recurring character.

  1. Ricozzi’s? Isn’t that the restaurant that only serves cough drops?

  2. I predict Bobby forgets his wallet at home. In a panic, he calls Max and asks him to please bring my wallet to the restaurant. Max claims he’s busy while watching Leave It to Beaver, but reluctantly brings wallet to him. Then, Lysol and Max hit it off.

  3. Is P3 chubby guy supposed to be Theo? If so, he’s been drawn with dark hair in his previous appearances.

  4. Yes, Theo aka Lumpy.

  5. Nice. Theo it is. You might think that posting semi-regularly about this stuff would mean that I paid extra attention to it…

  6. The unnamed character is Brent Raptor’s kid brother.

Hasn’t Ricozzi’s been depicted before? I seem to remember it as a a step up from the Bucket, a kind of date night place. Red flannel Italian (shakers of parmesan and red pepper, candle suggestively inserted in the wicker-wrapped Chianti bottle, etc…)

  7. We have previously observed The Bobbinator (TM) sporting a Man Bag.

However, in P1 he’s now toting a back-pack. Way to mix it up, Pistachio Disguisey; those costume changes are sure to keep the Feds off your felonious trail!

ps Although it’s not obvious, we have to assume those expansive windows are Prairie Style (?)

    pps S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT!

  9. A raven-haired beauty is asking out a weedy little nerd? This looks like classic Cartoonist’s Fantasy: unlike in real life, the cute girls slobber all over the booky nerdboys. This is why female superheroes wear stripper-appropriate “armor” and twist themselves into bone-fracturing poses: virtually all the artists are booky nerdboys.
