Snow Falling on Wieners

Is Rubin trying to turn “mono-focused” into a catchphrase no one uses in real life, to join the ranks of “the coming reunion” and “solo car date”? In any case, a mononucleosis joke would be too easy today, so let’s turn our focus to other things.

Theo seems to be morphing into Art Standish with a full head of hair. Interesting that he’s wearing gloves but not a hat while it’s snowing (at least that’s what I think the squiggle on the back of his hand represents, though it could be a hand stamp from Rave Night at Schultz’s Polynesian Garden).

As Bobby tosses the joint they’d been sharing over his shoulder in P3 (“I learned it from Max, okay?”) he hatches a plan to become the über-basketball coach wannabe. I foresee him quickly turning into the Anthony Michael Hall of Milford.

  1. Wait, is Bobby some kind of happy idiot type as well? The ‘logic’ in the leap from what’s stated in panel two to his conclusion in panel three is stupendously daft.

  2. Okay, so first he uses the word “weird” in his pickup line. Then Leisl tells him he’s too focused on basketball. Now he’s gonna ramp up the weirdness. Sounds like a plan.

Hey, are we sure Bobby’s got a prescription for Adderall? Maybe he’s been self-medicating all along. Not working.

  3. timbuys–Bobby is not some kind of happy idiot, he’s stoned eh…

  4. I have never heard the term “mono-focused”; but I may be out of step as usual…
Focused to me means mentally bearing down & excluding all other distractions–all the way from solving differential equations to making out/safe calls at first base…..
So “mono-focused” is some kind of oxymoron eh….

  5. I’m still confused over the identity of Bobby’s sounding board. He still looks like Brent Raptor’s kid brother to me. And I have to second Rowdyman on the neologism “mono-focused.” It is not only redundant, but says the same thing twice.

  6. I’m seeing Theo as catcher material and BHow trying out for baseball as a way to broaden his interests. This could be the unfortunate storyline that doesn’t end.

  7. I’m late to the party but Ken Cosgrove and I really enjoyed the title of this post.
