The Struggle Is Real; The Drugs, Not So Much

So Bobby’s cunning mono-focused plan has been set into motion:

Part the first. Teaching Max to not be a dick to his dealer by stiffing him, not letting on that the drugs have been placebos all along.

Part the second. Hinting to Lysol that he can predict the future re player performance, with a subtle hint at mind control.

Why do I get the feeling nobody (including we, the readers) will be happy with the way any of this turns out?

Anyway, it’s game time! Tiny Tilden player has either taken off for a dunk attempt way too soon or is coming down with a board way far away from the hoop. At first glance I thought the framed pictures on the wall were cafeteria menu items, but if I squint hard enough I can imagine they’re little banners with the names of all the Valley Conference schools on them, kind of like the ones you sometimes see in gyms.

metapost: Has WordPress forced us into the “new” post creation interface I first noticed back in August? I don’t see the option to go back to the old version. Change bad! Forced change worse!

  1. “so I ran out.” What, ran out of ideas for the denouement? Ran out of pickup lines to try with Lysol? Ran out of the room screaming?

Yes, it has been a bad-time-rugged-struggle, but baseball *must* start soon: the calendar demands it. Die, winter, die.

  2. dumb question, perhaps, but I’ll ask. How do we know those Adderall pills were plecobos ? Was that mentioned at an earlier point ? Did I miss it ?

  3. SampleHK, the idea of the “Adderall” being a placebo (aspirin, Tic-Tac, whatever) was speculation on some of our parts. I do not think any character in the strip has suggested that. Max had been agitating for the drug, and since Bobby is a fairly bright guy, I thought he might be aware enough of “the placebo effect” to give Max some harmless vitamin or antacid, especially since for Max’s problem– running out of gas late in the game– Adderall would be of no help.

  4. True, the placebo effect has been speculation on some of our parts. On February 21 I posted photos of Adderall for comparison with the drawing of the pill Bobby gave to Max on February 20. I leave the comparison to the reader.

  5. So what is Bobby’s 2 birds/1 stone? He is “messing” with Max the jerk’s head The 2d objective is??? My guess–Bobby will get his jollies when Max chokes…

  6. New interface isnt bothering me any, especially now that I figured out how to generate the color strip from the Seattle Times.
