This Week in Milford

Whaddawe got today? Max just looks so cute when he gets all frowny faced after learning that he won’t be able to get ‘high’ or ‘buzzed’ or whatever the kids call it today. Cheer up, Max! You can still get a natural high from humiliating your opponent…

Or maybe not… I assume that we are seeing the Valley conference equivalent of Teddy Valentine who of course is more interesting to depict than the actual players.

Meanwhile, Mimi – can we be sure that’s Mimi? Yes, we almost certainly can – has managed to crack the case of The Milford Connection by overhearing some idle chatter as the Lady Mudlark’s asynchronous stretching team gets some practice in.

  1. Yes, I think that’s Coach Mimi. I wondered if maybe Gil had said something at home about the weird exchange he overheard between Bobby and Baconator a couple of weeks ago. Can’t think what was said except that Gil said “Without what?” and the kids explained it away. In any case I think Bobby (and probably Max) will be on the rollers very soon, and that with any luck we’ll see baseball and softball before long.

  2. The “HMM…” says it all. The ellipsis I mean. I almost missed it, tucked the corner as it is.

Once again, Mimi is revealed as the brains of the operation. My God, Gil, man up already!

  3. Wouldn’t it be great if it turns out that Bobby really was giving Max his Adderall, and Mimi turns them in to the police, resulting in a judge saying ‘my hands are tied’ as he gives both boys the mandatory minimum sentence for drug trafficking, 25 years in the federal penitentiary? And Gil would just nod that it would be best for the boys for the long run, it’s a good lesson. What a great social commentary on the unexpected side effects of the nation’s war on drugs!

Somehow I think that might be a bit too topical for Gil Thorp, this ain’t Funky W.

  4. I just noticed something remarkable about the panel 3 drawing of Lysol: her arms– in a remarkably difficult position to draw– are pretty much perfectly rendered. Kind of makes me wonder about the freak arms we so often see otherwise.

  5. Steve the musical ref is back without a whistle chain and pointing rather then using all his fingers as refs do.
