This Week in Milford

Why do they call her Boo? The answer may scare you.

So Boo Radley is the new star pitcher on the Milford softball, team, and I appreciate the easy spelling of her nickname, as opposed to Leisl which was tricky. Got a good fastball, we’ll see how it translates into actual wins for her team. Still need hitting and defense, and she cant pitch every game. Her nickname will gradually be revealed throughout the season, just like Lucky Haskins was named from a road sign. In P3, we have blue-haired Omari Troy dropping by practice to probably talk about his new scholarship. Looks like he came out of the barbers chair a bit early, but he’s in luck, as the scholarship comes with a free hair coloring, your choice of silver or gold; that blue aint cutting it with anyone this side of the Bucket.

  1. It seems promising that Tru has longer hair than Boo.

  2. If AdderRadderall was a southpaw, just think of the curveball she could offer with those 6 fingers (I count 5 visible on that glove of hers + assumed thumb). Which is odd, since she had a “regular” left hand just a few days ago… Must be something in the drippy milk.

  3. This here’s a story ’bout a girl named Radley, Boo
And here’s what happened when she decided to cut loose…

“Trust me, you don’t want to ask?” Does this batter even know that the softball team’s last pitcher was the teenage mom of a baboon-like child? What could possibly be more ‘you don’t want to ask’ than that pitcher’s story?

  4. Is the nickname “Boo” for a person surnamed Radley really not understood by any high school student in the US? I thought “To Kill A Mockingbird” was required freshman reading!

Or will there be more to it? Addison saved a neighborhood kid from a killer? She is a recluse? Her goldfish are named Jem and Scout? I’m sure the answer is really boring or really stupid!

Atticus Fitch – Addison Radley? A play on names?

I’ve now exhausted all the energy I have for the spring. Bring on summer flag football/golf!

  5. The additional fingers on Boo come with her being associated in our minds with Harper Lee rather than Three Finger Brown (officially Mordecai Peter Centennial Brown.)

  6. One question that is being overlooked is True’s question in panel three. What is shaking? I know I am shaking at the sight of Omari’s Popeye-esque forearm in combination with his Snidely Whiplash level handlebar mustache.

  7. So, Boo’s a blonde? I was getting that vibe during her exchange with Mumsy over SugarBombs. Dunno why, I just was. Carry on…

  8. It looks like the catchers right hand is the one that’s hurting. If she’s catching it bare handed that would explain why it’s hurting. Maybe she should use that thing on her left hand to catch the ball.

  9. Either that or we have an analog to the familiar hen’s tooth, a left handed catcher (holding her mitt in the other hand to relieve her right.)
