“Self-deprecation.” Look It Up, Gil.

“… he’s a quick study. Good thing, too. I was afraid I was gonna have to coach for more than two panels.”

The devil is in the details today:

– Who knew Kaz had such delicate little feet?

– Three strikes do not make a walk. ;)

– Milford baseball jerseys have the same squared-off neckline that Milford football jerseys do. Anyone know what brand does that? I don’t think it’s Nike – they’ve got that underwire thing going.

– On the other hand Mudlark catching gear doesn’t look quite so modern. I can’t tell if that’s a hockey goalie-style mask propped up on Mike Granger’s head but looks like he’s wearing his soft cap under it, which for catchers I think went away with wool flannel uniforms.

– Beyond Central’s outfield fence lies a forest of car air fresheners.

Next up: Will True also be a quick study of Boo Radley? He probably has Cliffs Notes.

  1. That umpire is Hulking Up. “Whatchagonnadoo, when Umpamania calls Strike Three on yooooooou?”

  2. He’s Hulking Up? I thought he was doing a variant of the Cabbage Patch.

  3. The new catchers mask hasn’t come in yet. Catcher wanted a design on it like the Big League boys. The Art Dept is painting a train stopping at the depot in Milford for water. The Tank Town special.

  4. I’m picturing that “Strike Thu-ree-eee-eee!” call as coming from ghost Leslie Nielsen, reprising his role as Frank Drebin impersonating a Major League umpire in Naked Gun.

  5. Toot toot, Turkey.
Or is that “Woo-woo”? I can never get it right.

  6. In the background! There, over Granger’s shoulder! Is that spectator….choking the woman in front of him? If True wasn’t so into True, he’d go save that damsel or something. He’s a quick study, alright, of the Book of True.

  7. That background drawing really is disturbing now that g2design has pointed it out. The fact the upper figure appears to be wearing an old time Scoutmaster hat (US Army, WW I) makes it all the more alarming.

  8. A murderous former Scoutmaster or Drill Sergeant (same sort of lid)? Tune in tonight for CSI:Milford.

  9. […] that I’ve seen the chokehold going on in the Central stands yesterday I can’t unsee it.  Makes me wonder if there’s not an entire undercurrent of […]
