I think the relatively quick pace is great, but panel three just has me dumbfounded.

I get that Gil is obviously calling True in, but the artwork here is one of the worst Chalice drawings I’ve ever seen.

  1. And here I thought “Krak!” was the sound a Kraken makes.

  2. KRAK ? Is this a wood bat league? I would think PING! is more likely.

  3. I confess to looking this up – high school games are 7 innings.

So… Top of 7, 2 on, nobody out. Here comes the one True closer.

How about a one-pitch triple play? (I confess to looking that up too.)

  4. That’s Gil in panel 3? I thought Evel Knievel picked up sponsorship from the University of Miami (Ohio).

  5. Tuesdays at 9 on TLC, “What Happened To My Ass?” Shocking stories of ass-reduction surgery gone horribly wrong. On tonight’s episode, the tragic tale of a high school coach who wasn’t happy with the ass God gave him, and took a fateful journey into the seedy world of back-alley assotomies.

  6. Gil has the ability to be on both sides of a backstop at the same time. Most of his upper body is behind the backstop, but his left leg and some other odds and ends are on the field, as his feet clearly indicate. Or did Herk the Mauler reappear recently and throw some antagonist through the backstop, leaving a large hole? Of all the disturbing GT drawings I have seen, this is one of the strangest.

In any case, True is about to be handed the bag. But where is Boo? The plot symmetry seemed to have divided itself just as Gil has.

  7. Gil was an extra in the movie “Mystery, Alaska.”
