Clowning Around

Folks, panel three is just weirding me out. I’m not even going to try and parse out how if True were throwing in the low 90’s as a high schooler he would, at least back when I used to follow this stuff, be first round draft material.

Apropos of nothing, here’s a video I enjoy quite a bit.

  1. Note to Gil: How would True have known he was throwing 91 if you hadn’t told him? It’s your own damn fault.

    Nice clip. Love Nick.

  2. So is this a side session? I see no one else besides catcher. True doesn’t think on his feet very well. He should’ve told Gil the catcher needs to work on blocking balls in the dirt. MAX ORTIZ! cured him of clowning around .

  3. “I suggest you take your mind off scouts and baseball and throwing hard, find something to distract you, break out of the routine, let off a little steam. Maybe, I don’t know, go to a late-night rock concert with a teenage girl.”

  4. In P3 – what is Gil focussed on? True-man’s appendix?

  5. Well, Gil’s actually doing kind of OK today, but I don’t think that wild fastball will remain the central issue next to Central City. Since there are few other real conflicts on the horizon, I am pretty sure True will end up going to the Mos Eisely of the region, Central CIty, and that in the process Boo will flip the Jeep. Neither will be seriously injured, of course (this is Mfnrd) but some lame platitude will result and baseball and softball will end. Then on to the (oh, no!) summer plot, which I can guarantee will not be in it with Herk the Mauler.

  6. Summer plot: Max Ortiz – Luche Libre wrestler!
Nah, it will be Gil Thorp – drunk-ass golf coach.
Or Boo Radley – my mean parents made me get a summer job.

For the days of hobo baseball!

  7. […] as we know, will have no bearing on Milford’s postseason hopes?  (edit: Compare this to the kid gloves Gil used on his golden boy meal ticket, True Standish.) Watch for the Hurricane to blow a UCL then, […]
