Where’s Your Chunky Bracelet, Marty??

I’m at a total loss after attempting to extract meaning from Gil and Marty’s conversation. It’s basically Marty being Marty followed by Gil dismissing his predictably dour assertions with his Thorpian brand of inscrutable optimism.

Meanwhile, the Mystic Pranks midnight concert has not happened yet and it’s the night before the final game! Is Boo going to “get what she wants” tonight. The suspense is mildly irritating me!

  1. “Valley Pessimists Conference”? What gives Gil? That’s your best burn?
Why not go all out and call him “Marty Idiot-Face“?

  2. Hey, look at Marty’s blue stripe in his hair. He’s so punk rock. I bet he’ll go to Mystic Prank show with Boo.

  3. Okay, so am I to understand that Boo — who is at least as competitive in sports as her boyfriend — is trying to lure him to a midnight concert in another city on a school night JUST BEFORE THE BIG GAME?

    Nope, don’t buy it.

  4. We may be about to see something we have never seen in GT before– star player staggers into the locker room for the big game with dark circles under his eyes and his ahem dragging on the floor…

  6. Seeing stands for a high school baseball game weirds me out a bit. When they run games on our city cable, the crowds are in the low 2 figures.

  7. Am I the only one who’s disappointed that Jefferson’s teams aren’t called the Pilots?

  8. I was thinking more of a Massachusetts connection. There, the Jeffs are the teams from Amherst College, named for Jeffrey Amherst. Their arch rivals are the Ephs, of Williams College, named for Ephraim Williams. Both schools have been there since shortly after the Flood, and Williams is in fact the third oldest college in Massachusetts, behind Becker College (1784) and that school I went to (1636.)

  9. How many girls call a guy to ask them out That Evening?? Talk about last minute – and True has that big choice and better make the right one..

  10. Well, even if it’s a terrible idea it’s not REALLY last minute (the idea was originally floated a couple of geologic ages ago (a week or ten days in real time) and besides, which has the greater dramatic potential, True saying “No, I must be ready to clean up for Paul Dillon,” or Chief Linn separating them with a crowbar and turning them over to coaches Thorp and Thorp?

  11. I’m predicting Twue does not go with Boo, she goes alone, gets into a car accident/etc., Twue is distraught/distracted. At least it should be summer vacation in Milford next week!

    Comment by Milfordian — June 22, 2015 @ 7:23 pm

  12. Milfordian is probably right, but Whigrub has invested so much in True ‘n Boo that I have to think they will become the summer plot too.

  13. Wait, wait – is Marty touching Gil in P1? Is Gil gonna ask him in P2 “What did the five fingers say to the face?”
