Quarterback of Sorts (Prepscoop)

Filed under: Gil Thorp — teenchy @ 7:06 pm

There’s Rodney Curtis, and his pal,
True Standish, a quarterback of sorts.
Tronix Camp, Clemson shirt, Power Blast.
Four-star prospects don’t wear jorts.

Get a load of Coach Thorp, “What’cha gonna do?” Get a load of Coach Thorp,
Prepscoop (is coming) into town. Prepscoop (is coming) into town.
Prepscoop (is coming) into town.

(repeat 1st verse and chorus)

Not about, not about, not about a school.
All about, all about, all about my brand.

(repeat chorus)

There’s another, unnamed, recruiting site.
Worth, somehow, sixty million bucks.
Tronix Camp, Passing Camp, extra zing.
True Standish, Curtis.

(repeat chorus)

(apologies Berry/Buck/Mills/Stipe)

  1. Is that an empty SEEMENT pond they’re sitting by in panel 1? Nice passing camp. Sponsored by Todd Marinovich I suppose. Where’s all the babes by the pool? Must be a hoggin’ camp. But where’s Russ Grimm? Oh well.

  4. I feel so sorry for these pampered prepstars, having to put up with recruiting nonsense in order to get their FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIPS while they attend an elite camp only open to the very best prospects and wear their free prepstar schwag. It’s a pig’s life in the British Army.

  5. Tronix is a Math game…

  6. Tronix is actually a (welcome?) call back to the 2004-2005 basketball season plot, where they were a show company building a marketing campaign around high school phenom LeBron James Jaquan “The Don” Case before Hadley V. Baxendale convinced him to go to college.

Jaquan later had Tronix founder and CEO Steven Graus send Baxendale and the Lady ‘Larks new uniforms as a thank you, because amateur athletes can ask for 4 figure favors in this universe.

  7. Hey billy, dunno how your post got into moderation but I fixed that. Thanks for the Tronix backstory! Interesting to see the Lady ‘Larks lose to Council Rock – that’s a school district near where I live that has since been split into two due to population growth.

This post kinda fell flat and I’m sorry for that. I read “Tronix camp” and thought “Chronic Town” and things just kinda rolled from there.
