It’s A Series Of Rubes

Let’s see if we can water down this “plot” a little more with a rube from Kokomo chatting up THE Rodney Curtis at “QB Camp”. This is all a dream, right? True declined to do all these camps because he secretly committed to the Rhode Island School of Design, then he slipped and hit his head in the SpeedCo parking lot. Rodney, Rodney’s uncle, the Rube and all the eager coaches are just random people gathered around True as he hallucinates all this while lying in a puddle of soda.

  1. I was waiting for this scene, the one where everyone eats cafeteria food with chisels while dressed identically…

Summer plots in this strip used to have less insane descriptions than that, but were actually much more insane. I miss those days.

  2. “I can’t believe”
    “I can’t believe”
    “I’m just a rube”

I think Rubin’s trying to tell us something; for the life of me I can’t figure it out.

  3. OK, I think the exposition has been accounted for for some time now (that these camps and rating “services” include a broad streak of scam.) Time for some development. I vote for returning to the good story, that of Boo and True. Boo Radley, teenage rebel, has turned into simpering support-person: this has to end.

  4. RISD has a football team, right? The RISD Dropcloths?

  5. I think it’s the RISD Chiaroscuros.
