Never Mind That; Who Are You?

“She’s so famous, she hasn’t been talked about in Milford since before our parents were born!”

I have no idea who these Milford girls are – and I suspect we won’t find out anytime soon – but I give Rubin credit for pegging the zeitgeist as to what the kids today consider acting. Master Thespian would be so disappointed.

Right on cue here’s Mimi, plying Gil with Yoo-Hoo a giant wax soda bottle beer to loosen his lips. More than likely Gil will give her the good husband answer to the effect of “Why would I care what Holly’s been up to when I have a great gal like you here at home?” Can’t blame Mimi, really: having become such an afterthought in Milford she’s probably looking forward to a bizarre love quadrangle to spice up her life.

  1. So, in other words, this might be the beginning of a new Gil Thorp storyline ?

  2. I did NOT need to see that Panel 1 face before I had my coffee. Or afterward, come to think of it.
If I understand it, the last time Holly stood in front of a classroom, high school kids took their allowance money to the S.S.Kresge store to buy 45 rpm records. Does a teaching license ever expire in whatever state Milford is in?

  3. Desperate attempt by Rubin to appear up-to-date with the kiddies. Netflix? Old media! YouTube? How 2008! These kids’re using up their attention spans watching six-second vids on Vine.

  4. Phillip a teaching license, like any other license can be renewed forever!!! First requirement is paying $$$ for dues. Then satisfy the continuing ed requirements. Some never expire as long as you pay your annual dues…

  5. Fun possibilities. (1) Holly is working undercover for DCFS to find out what happened to the Thorp kids. (2) Gil spurns Holly’s efforts to rekindle, Marty gets soppy and futile over her, but Kaz wins her at the end and rides off to become an assistant coach at USC.
