This Show Is Headed Down The Primrose Way To The Everlasting Bonfire

Cameras are rolling on Welcome Back, Carter starring Holly Dobbs. Nothing says reality show high school English like some Shakespeare and some spontaneous sports related fist raising. C’mon idiots, get those fists up there, as if you don’t care, pray thee, odds bodkins, etc.

  1. We’ve had a string of truly horrific close-ups lately. All women, of course. Is that Holly Dobbs or Horsey Dobbs?

  2. I recall my first day of high school English. We also left that syllabus junk for day two and launched right in to Shakespeare. We did King Lear, though.

  3. Ah, c’mon Holly. If you’re rousing us to the bonfire:

“These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
    Which, as they kiss, consume.”

  4. “How does that grab you?” is an expression I have not heard for years. I recall it used to be popular in the 1960’s, Nancy Sinatra’s song released in 1966 “How Does That Grab You, Darlin?”,…. Next up is some dude from New England saying another 1960’s expression–“that’s a pissah!!”….

  5. Well another shot of the obligatory Milford chunky bracelet.

  6. Is this still supposed to be the first day of class? Or at least the first week? Because they’re already pretty deep into Act IV. At this rate, the students will be doing good to remember titles by the midterm exam, let alone any characters or plots.

  7. Holly sure is cool with the kids. I wonder if she’ll be getting stoned with the kids after the bonfire like the Donald Sutherland character in Animal House. She’ll probably have to tell the OL brothers not to drool too much on the joint. I hope they go skitzo.

  9. I would like to nominate whatever thing that student is hefting in the air in the top right of panel three for the Pantheon of Mysterious Objects. To borrow from Teenchy, back soon with a post.
