For Pete’s Sake

TV guys continue to make up stuff thats untrue and this time its harmless as Trish has broken up with her boyfriend and is now available for real mayhem with True, Pete DeWindt, or another warm body that doesnt wear high heels. I dont know how the girls havent figured out this ruse by now, as who would take what a TV producer says with more then a grain of salt when hearing about friends you’ve known for several years? By the way, Pete in P1 doesnt really look like Pete in P3; could this be 2 different people? Looks like he got more Asian overnight. The Bucket must serve Chinese on Tuesdays as well.

I found another picture of Pete De Windt, and if I was the TV guy I wouldnt mess around with him or his ex-girlfriend again..

Finally our musical selection today comes from the Monkees, the title  of this post being the same as the song:

  1. I believe Pete in P3 closely resembles Pete in P1; (a) same chin dimple; (b) the same hair pattern on left hand side. Only difference is the color change in panel 2…

  2. Jeeze, Rob, you weren’t kidding:

“Sifu Peter Dewindt is a third degree black belt in American Kenpo, a brown belt in Judo, and a black belt in The Wind Combat System.”

I’ll admit I don’t know the particulars of what those things mean, but it has me convinced that any physical altercation with Mr. Dewindt would be brief, painful and potentially catastrophic….

  3. Pete: “The TV guys told Trish you like her!”
True: “In yesterday’s strip, you suspected me of liking her. Now the TV guy confirmed your suspicions, but you suddenly realized that the TV guy was lying, and I’m still loyal to Boo … or I would be if I could find her.”
    Pete: “Yep! No more doubts!”
True: “So the trust issues are settled?”
Pete: “Yep! But, we broke up anyway.”
True: “Are you getting a sense that Rubin is becoming a little frantic, trying to wrap things up before real-world high school football is finished in all 50 states?”
Pete: “Yep! I’ll bet Saturday’s strip will end with somebody preparing to tell Coach Thorp about Dory and Alan.”

  4. I have an awful feeling that this is going to come down to True submarining this preposterous “reality show” plot. Dorky Darwin has now been suborned by the pimp producer, and the tight end’s romance has been ruined in the same way: will True get the team to refuse to cooperate with their exploiters? No matter how it turns out, Whigrub will have escaped dealing with the football season, unless, in a parody of the end of last season, Jarrod, on the bench in civvies as Jarrod races down the sideline, trips the kid who is about to tackle his teammate. I hate basketball, but can’t wait for it to begin, as long as this TV horseshit ends with the football season. Maybe the most interesting character of the past year, Boo, will even resurface.

  5. The sad thing is that Rubin is leaving so much potential unused. No Boo, brief cameos by Marty and Mimi. Heck, we don’t even get references to the TV show anymore, and we barely ever see the cameras and crew. Ugh.

  6. It’s the small things that keep me interested. As in the Panel 1 lead-in:

    TE Pete
    DE Windt questions his
    QB

Maybe not a haiku, but it has a certain visual beauty.

And then the last line of P3: “called it quits”; don’t give me any ideas….

  7. I would say Pete is turning Japanese.
