This Week in Milford

Don’t Do Anything, Stupid.

Filed under: actual action, football, Just plain sad, Milford Idiots — timbuys @ 9:52 am

It is likely overstating it to tag this one as ‘Actual Action’ but I’ll take what we can get these days.

One thing we learn today is that the signal from whatever UHF station is broadcasting WBC is able to reach New Thayer, wherever that is.

Question: If Dopey Dory Darwin gets mad because people make fun of him for playing dumb when he’s actually (supposedly anyway) smart, doesn’t that make him kinda stupid? I think the answer is unequivocally yes.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be the internet without this guy.

  1. When New Thayerians Attack! hosted by Robert Urich! Coming soon to a community programming channel near you!

On a slightly related note, my fair state boasts 14 “New” cities, from New Auburn to New York Mills. Most, if not all, are namesakes of the original European cities from whence the diaspora… dispersed(?). However, I cannot find any city in Europe named “Thayer”. Perhaps it stems from the German Thaya river? Which, one should note, is not actually in Germany.

  3. I believe it’s from the phrase, often heard in frontier days. “You knew they’re a comin’ for you, dint you?”

  4. It’s December 2nd. One year ago today, Kaz was telling Gil that some of the kids had never stayed in a hotel before. Jarrod Hale’s 4-yard run with seven seconds left consumed parts of four day’s strips, and finally ended on the 11th.
This year? We seem further from a conclusion than we were two weeks ago. Dory has to do something stu- … well, let’s say impercipient. The wrapup of New Thayer may take the rest of this week. They still have to play Valley Tech. They still have to wrap up the reality show.
I’m thinking the over-under for ending the fall story is 19 December, and I may take the over.

  5. Oh hey, football. Almost forgot it was the season for it, as this is game 5. On December 2.

    I have no other words.

  6. Panel 4: An enraged Dory attacks his brother. Both are injured, depleting the Milford line. Jarroo gets sacked eight consecutive times before leaving the game with fractured ribs. Milford folds like a cheap tent and misses the playdowns. Thank goodness — Gil can enjoy a lengthy December break, after having to suffer through the agony of a state championship last year.
