This Week in Milford

Largely Persuasive

So, Ken is this arc’s good guy, Maxwell has seen the light after his long, traumatic struggle with placebo abuse, and Tracy may or may not be any one of the tonsured dudes we’ve seen so far being dismissive or denigratory towards Kenzie.  I think.

That is all kind of boring. To me, the more interesting question is what is that thing over Ken’s bare shoulder? Don’t tell me that is some stylized version of the Nike swoosh. I especially appreciate the detail of the slot headed screw holding the shelf upon which it rests.

Speaking of new guy Tracy, try not to spend too much time figuring out what’s going on with his neck.

  1. This is so meta. We’re watching the kids watching the kids play hoops.

  2. Pretty sure most high school boys basketball players play “below the rim” too, Maxwell.

Hey, instead of spending 3 panels on boys talking about going to a basketball game, how about 1 panel of talking and 2 panels showing some action from said game? I can dream.

  3. The winter story started 21 December, and in just over three weeks, we’ve … introduced the characters.
Perhaps Kenzie will meet Ken or Maxwell while she sits in the second row of the stands, and romance will blossom. Or something.

  4. “Playing below the rim.” Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

I’m guessing that Tracy’s got a carotid artery so massive it’s made the Guinness Book of World Records.

  6. The thing over Ken Brown’s left shoulder is, I think, a sideways Starfleet insignia. Probably drawn by Steve Luhm; he seems like the Star Trek cosplay type.

  7. Wow, home opener in January. Most teams have played 15 games by now.
