Less Jokey, Jockey

Panel one: Kenzie’s disproportionately large hands make taking a massive bite of her burger no problem. Meanwhile, Maxwell daintily takes another nibble of his goomba

Panel two: Don’t quit the rugby gig to go into stand-up, Kenzie.

Panel three: This again, and by this I mean another lockerroom scene with the boys cracking wise about Kenzie’s Brobdingnagian abilities.

Bonus points:

Is that some kind of a Captain America t-shirt?

Is Max’s look in panel three one of annoyance at the taunting or serious introspection as he considers just exactly what it is that draws him to Kenzie?

    I saw you at lunch
    Maxwell, you realize she

  2. The proper response: Yeah, and she can kick yours too, buddy boy.”

  3. Have no idea what being a jockey and playing rugby have to do with each other. Completely different occupations. Did she really visit a horse farm or a racetrack and talk to people in the business and they told her; well, since your so tall this profession may not be for you – how about playing rugby? Isnt that how you can get started in something you really want to do? Being a jockey is an occupation. Playing rugby is to me more like a pastime, something you do in your spare time when your not doing your real job. And she’s still in High School for Pete’s sake! I remember Steve Cauthen was 17 when he rode Affirmed to the Triple Crown, so she’s old enough if that means anything. But I would think someone that has time to play on a national rugby team and go to school, (albeit online classes if thats what it took before her ‘getting banged up’ forced her to go to normal high school) could figure out how to race horses on weekends as well, if so qualified and trained. I admit I dont know much about jockeys as a profession, so some of this may be a reach, but I’m just having a problem with her logic. Anyone else? I just cant believe her height is the only thing that stopped her.

  5. Was that a “one liner” in Panel 2 ? Your comments seem to imply so, but I don’t “get the joke”.

  6. Are we going to be reminded daily that Menzie can kick someone’s tail. Getting a little tiresome.

  7. The “jockey” joke is an old standby. She’s too big and tall to be a jockey, geddit? Hahahaha. It doesn’t help that Whigham has been drawing her as hardly bigger than Maxwell. She needs to go back to being an Amazon.
