A Futile Leap

020316

What is even happening in panel three?

Bonus point: Gil in a jacket and tie is looking pretty slick. Perhaps he picked up a few tips from that Hollywood crew…

  1. That’s not Gil, that’s Pat Riley. Gil has connections, man…

  2. Wow! A cameo appearance by Gil in his own strip. He has more vacation time than Johnny Carson.

  3. “He has more vacation time than Johnny Carson.” And Carson’s dead, so that’s saying something.

  4. That Oakwood player either has eyes in the back of his head or is a former U-Boat officer. I see either a broken wrist or a shoulder separation in Maxwell’s immediate future.

Wish also to congratulate JT and John S for being funnier than Johnny Carson. It’s a low hurdle, but still worthy of note.

  5. Dang, I spend less than five minutes posting a blog about Gil Thorp and all of a sudden a huge Johnny Carson mockery session breaks out in the comments. What’s the world coming to?

  6. Vaganova, Carnac say.”May the only buzz you feel on Super Bowl Sunday be a kiss from Ruth Buzzi and her spinach chin.”

  7. Jive Turkey, can this curse be lifted if I use laughing gas to make Carson appear funny?

  8. Either that or whatever Ed McMahon was drinking.

  9. Every Super Bowl Sunday I would hope Ed McMahon would be at my door after the game to give me my big prize in the Publishers Clearinghouse sweepstakes. And every year someone else would win. The only McMahon that made me happy was Jim, winning SB XX for the Bears.
