The unanswered question (with apologies to the often unintelligible Charles Ives) is why Kenzie is both showing interest and holding back. Gender orientation is the obvious possibility, but who knows? She may simply be so far ahead of Maxwell developmentally that she can’t face the travail of catching him up.

Re: the bump… Maxwell has a visible bruise on his forehead in panel 3. It doesn’t help the poor reader that Kenzie talks about it in panel 1, before we’ve had a chance to see it.
