This Week in Milford

February 6, 2016

Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you

Okay, everyone who thought Kenzie blew Maxwell off earlier because she wasn’t interested in going out with guys, raise your hands. Now put them down – you look silly. Turns out Kenzie’s formidable size and feats of muscularity have been intimidating not only her rugby and basketball opponents but also potential dates. I expect we’ll hear more about this next week, so let’s get cozy at the Coffee Cantina and order another round.

From the Tiny Details Dept.: chunky-braceleted person with that ’70’s hair toasts the awkward couple while tablet reader in plaid needs to get his eyes checked. Not sure what the poster above Kenzie’s right hand in P3 is about: the CC getting into the branded beverages biz perhaps?

Musical selection inspired by today’s strip:

(bet y’all thought I’d post the R.E.M. cover, dint’ja?)

  1. Nearsighted Tablet Boy is sitting approximately two feet away from the EXIT. Fire code violation!

Speaking of fires, wouldn’t it be romantic if the espresso machine suddenly exploded, setting off a fire? Then Kenzie could hoist Maxwell over her shoulder and rush him out the door while “I Will Always Love You” plays on the soundtrack.

  2. Maybe she hasn’t come across any Amazon men up to this point. She will have to settle for a “normal” high school male.

  3. Not to go all avant-garde on you but another “Spooky” song is by Mr Epp and the Calculations whose members eventually became the band Mudhoney. It’s not a cover. Good stuff.

  4. “Thought of you as my mountaintop, thought of you as my peak”

There’s lots to choose from Dead Letter Office.

And check the colored panels; they are pale blue.

  5. This plot has more potential than I credited it with initially. I was sure that Kenzie would quickly become wallpaper and that Bobby Howry, boy genius, would become the story again. Looking forward to Monday, and the next step toward Kenzie’s discovery that “different is normal.”

  6. Continuing with the tiny details, I am a bit unclear as to how 70’s-hair person is supposed to be grasping his/her coffee mug(?).
