This Week in Milford

Not 4-Footers but 15-Footers for the 6-Footer

Two cameos in today’s strip: Thing from The Addams Family in the role of Kenzie’s giant trembling paw, and Caitlyn Jenner (coyly pointing to herself and asking, “Who, moi?“) in the role of Jefferson #22.

Adjust-a-Size Maxwell has expanded from his trip to The Bucket to get closer to Kenzie’s height again in P2. Not sure if that’s a Prairie Style Window behind them as we can’t see the corners.

Prepare for this coming week when we’ll see if Whigham has studied enough photos and clips of Rick Barry and Wilt Chamberlain at the charity stripe to get this pose down consistently. Here’s one for your weekend enjoyment – maybe the one Maxwell shared with Kenzie?

  1. And now the moment we’ve been waiting for: Jefferson hacks Kenzie and we get to see if she accepts it and takes the underhand free throw, or if she reverts to rugby and consigns #22 to a stretcher. Just an accident, you understand– knocking #22’s head off was the farthest thing from Kenzie’s mind.

  2. Finally, we return to the basketball court. What I don’t get is how Kenzie has gone from clumsy benchwarmer to Actual Threat Worthy of Being Scouted.

  3. Sure she will be a hero with game winning gfrre throw.

  4. I have almost no idea how girls’ high school basketball is typically played, but wouldn’t the lower number of fouls allowed per player and the lower threshold for getting into the bonus make this strategy pretty impractical?

  5. Its the same as boys, just more below the rim, less jumping too. Same foul rules.

  6. Thanks, Rob. Am I right then, that if the opposing team just started hacking Kenzie with their bigs, they would quickly run out of bigs and be at a, so to speak, big disadvantage pretty quickly?

  7. Depends, Timbuys, on how they spread the fouls around. If she’s sinking them in close, fouling her (when as far as they have scouted, she is a poor free throw shooter) makes sense. In other words foul her to prevent the two points, then let her bang ’em off the rim. It’s a fairly safe strategy unless the same player does most of the hacking and fouls out. Now to see if Maxwell’s tip has led to more consistent foul shots. And to see if Kenzie retaliates. Again, rugby players are really good at making a devastating shot to the solar plexus look completely accidental, hence no ejection.
