This Week in Milford

The legend is born

Filed under: actual action, basketball, general nonsense, Kenzie Hanley, Mimi Thorp — robmize2013 @ 7:15 pm

And Kenzie seals the deal with clutch freethrow shooting down the stretch in a big road win. We’re on our 3rd net of the game – hope they’re bio-degradable or someone will hear from the Green Earth authorities or whoever is in charge of that stuff..

A big hug from hottie Leisl and a Milford fan in the background in P2 putting up the Black Power salute used in an Olympics I cant remember. Heck, I can barely remember how many games we’ve seen this season, so much panel time wasted on romance, eating at diners, and general nonsense. (Hey, new category!) General Nonsense fought in the Korean War and decided the effort was worthless so he resigned and became a spokesman for Prilosac. His name these days is Larry the Cable Guy.

Mimi giving the stats on the bus – isnt everyone there a basketball player? How more to announce that Kenzie was a hoop imposter then to say that? I love how nobody sits with anyone – every woman to herself. The cool kids always sat in back, so Kenzie has a ways to go in that department.

And I get 2 days in a row; stay tuned for bonus coverage of “The Making of a Female Basketball Player”

  1. (Tommie Smith and John Carlos, Mexico City, 1968. Both had stunning performances in the 200m– Smith shattered the world record– but both were driven out of the sport in retribution for their protest.)

After being credited with noticing the net switch the other day, I missed today’s. Are we being told that Kenzie is such a force that she wears out nets?

The blacklit spectator in p2 is a little disturbing, but I think the bus scene in p3 makes up for it. I have to agree with robmize than in effect, Mimi has left the introductory clause “I assumed you were a dub, but…” for her listeners to fill in.

  2. Sorry I’m late – just got back from work. Thirteen-hour work days every day this week are starting to get to me. Thanks for the cover. See y’all on Saturday.

  3. Hah! I been doing the same this week. Calls at six or seven in the morning paired with calls at ten or later at night, night after night are no fun. Beats working in a coal mine but still… I like the general nonsense category – I have a feeling we’ll be getting a lot of use out of it.

  4. Nice little combination sleeper hold/bear hug Kenzie’s got locked in on Leisl. I guess that’s the last we’ll ever see of the Scandinavian/Asian Wunderkind.

  5. I’ll take General Nonsense over General Soreness (Derek Rose) any day. I’m sure the bus driver is thinking please sit down Mrs Thorp so I can brive this dus (Honeymooners 99,000 answer reference) back to Tank Town. Saloons close at 1:00 AM.

  6. Who wrote it? Hammahammahamma… Ed Norton?

I do some design work, and have to congratulate Chief Whigham for these varied basketball nets. Make today’s out of stamped sixteenth inch steel, enamel it white, and MoMA would sell it from their online store as a $200 wastebasket.

  7. Perhaps background Milford fan/player is doing a tribute to recently-departed basketball legend Dolph Schayes, who would usually run back down the court with one fist raised in the air after scoring. Yeah, probably not…

  8. Holy Scapula Batman! Look at the size of that deltoid! Poor strangulated Ishii… we hardly knew ye.

  9. g2 design has ably put into words something I noticed too, the unnatural angle of (Misspelled) Ishii’s neck. Kenzie will keep the local chiropractor (his shingle reads simply CHIROPRACTOR) in business working on her teammates alone.
