This Week in Milford

Two Weeks in One Day

“Hey, fellas? Game over here.” – Central’s illegal #7’s thought balloon, if he had one

Time’s really flying in the Thorpiverse now, as the last eight strips have covered almost three weeks. I’m gonna assume the “almost two weeks” refers to time elapsed since the Milford Star ran the Kenzie article, not to some unspoken pregnancy scare.

Well, let’s get these seasons over with. Ball and stick games wait for no one.

Musical inspiration for today: one of my favorite songs of all time, which I can’t be brought to parody (and besides I did the “Old Man Kensey” riff already this season). FF to 1:20 if you don’t speak Dutch.

  1. #7 on Central, another violation of player number rules….

  2. Wondering if this is going to end up a displacement plot (Maxwell is upset with Kenzie, so he unnecessarily fouls #7.) Actually we could probably bring in all the defense mechanisms. “You probably think I’m distracted” (projection) “I’m fine!” (denial) etc. Either that or an exploration of time dilation and compression (two strips on one outburst vs two weeks’ time between two other strips.)

  3. Hmm. Maybe Ken Brown comes off the end of the bench and administers the Right Boot o’ Justice, or K-Z comes out of the stands to, well, stand up for her so-called “boyfriend”. Either way, Juicey might get a chance to redeem herself.

  4. Yeah, what was that about, Ken Brown getting hurt? Was that just to take the Mfnrd boys team out of the play-ups or was there some other reason? I forget.

  5. Milford had already lost one Valley Conference game prior to Brown’s injury, which would have made their road to the playdowns difficult. Now that they’ve lost 3 versus 2 wins, it surely isn’t happening.

The Lady Larks have yet to lose, they are either 4-0 or 5-0, so maybe we’ll get something there. The Milford Girls haven’t been to the playdowns since 2007!

  6. The way things are going, we’ve seen the last of the Milford girls’ squad.

I gotta say, that’s one magical Steve Luhm shine on the basketball court. The reflections of the players’ legs extend indefinitely downward. Either that, or all the players are wearing Nike HoverShoes, floating serenely above the field of play.
