Movies Typically Are Better Written…

Filed under: Central City Cretins, lessons learned, Mimi Thorp — timbuys @ 5:59 am

Movies, like real life, end. Maybe I want that too much for this plot.

  1. “This isn’t a poorly-plotted continuity strip, it’s real life.”

“But Coach, if that’s true, why are we trapped in these little two-dimensional boxes?”

Also, glad to see that Gil and Mimi use the same nickname for her breasticles.

  2. oh my. Sometimes a microphone is just a microphone, right?

  3. “I’m Chet Talkington and you’re not.”

  4. I’ll give Rubin a little credit for not going with the more obvious “feel good” story and have the Lady ‘Larks win, but the Mimi should have first surmised that it was more about Boo being far and away the team’s best player than it was about trying to hard to earn some emotional victory. Because that’s what it was exactly. Boo was the only softball player depicted as being any good this season (which, to be fair, is just now covering its SECOND game…)

  5. Where’s Marty to stir things up?
“Mimi, these girls obviously weren’t ready to play in the wake of such a tragedy! You may have scarred these girls for life and tarnished Boo’s legacy! Why in Gods name did you force theses girls to play today?!”

  6. I realize this is the Thorpiverse, where obsession with high school sports apparently knows no bounds, but I’m curious: has anyone in the real world ever seen a TV crew at a girls’ softball game?

  7. Why is a radio station doing a television remote anyway?

  8. And why is a depressed-looking Gil running the camera for them?

  9. Here in the sticks the local news will show up to film highlights of any high school sport. We’re not quite at Marty Moon levels of obsession, but we can see it from here.
