Maybe True Is Thinking What We’re All Thinking

I can’t help but believe that True is looking at each of us in tacit acknowledgment that everything has gone off the rails.

Oh well, let’s all get strapped in for a rehash of last summer’s hit plot, Recruitin’ True 2: Pathetic Boogaloo.  Perhaps they’ll manage to work Snapchat in there somehow.

  1. Did we miss Boo’s funeral? Oh wait, I forgot: Who cares? The important thing is, it was a life lesson for True. Plus it juiced his fastball. Everybody wins.

  2. I do not recall what True recorded on the speed gun last year, but it was at least 90. I doubt there’s twenty high schoolers who hit 90 even once in a year, and each of them would have a crew of scouts at each game. Of course, this brings up the question: how many games have the ‘Larks played, and how many are left to go? “Don’t do it again” sounds like the year is not over.
By way of perspective, there are four “short season” minor leagues. These players just finished high school or college, went through the draft, signed a contract, and Googled “Elizabethton TN” to see where they were going. Milford hasn’t finished its season, but the Appy League has played thirteen games.

  3. The last Mudlark pitcher that had the scouts super excited lied to get a cortisone shot, threw out his arm in the minors, blew his signing bonus on a mid-2000s Mustang, and eventually tried to set fire to Gil’s house. I kinda see Gil’s point here…

  4. Give True 30 days rest after each outing, kill off friends and family members every 30 days or so, have a protection order against Gil, and this kid may have a future in the bigs.

  5. Speaking of self-actualized female characters who haven’t yet died, is Molly Kinsella caddying this summer at Milford Country Club?

  6. #5 Dood — You may have just doomed Molly to a horrible tragic death. Let’s see… sudden lightning strike while Gil and Molly are coaching the kiddies? That’ll do.

Or, in honor of Boo’s double collision, we could have her hit twice by lightning.
