Sharper And Tougher

Filed under: Boredom in Milford, lessons learned, Pissy faced True — timbuys @ 6:09 am

Sometimes, I feel a tinge of guilt about having little to say about these strips.

Not today. I think I learned that from Boo or something…

  1. When did coach Thorp say that? I think Tru has had his moment in the spotlight now get him offstage and on to Wake Forrest. Or perhaps he should go to a divinity school instead and become a televangelist. He could make plenty of money at that without a concern about physical injury.

  2. He must’ve said that off camera/off panel as he staggered to the driving range, having emptied the flask. He also is tired of True’s filibuster.

  3. The Holy Trinity of seagulls in P1 is a nice touch. As is the witch’s hat spire – that is one fugly church lemmetellya.

True has abandoned his notes and is now prattling on extemporaneously. Do the math: with lemonade being served Saturday, he has two days to wrap this up and get to the church basement sandwiches and weak coffee.

  4. I will admit to being in a bit of a rush to get this morning’s post up. Revisiting this, I have to wonder what the hell point of view we’re supposed to be seeing in panel two? If anyone here can wrap their head around that perspective, they’re a better comics observer than me.

  5. Pulpit perspective? I still can’t get over that giant chess rook lifting off from Cape Calvary in P1.

  6. I’m with 1966tvbatman from yesterday: I still like True a lot & don’t blame him for being made the focus of the storyline — that’s on Rubin. Just like I don’t blame him for delivering Boo’s eugoogily to some jurors’ box in a random courtroom (P2) — that’s on Whigham.

I do wonder where he’s going with this “we need to be at our toughest”, though.

  7. That does indeed look like a rook blasting off as the birds fly away. I also agree with 1966tvbatman though I may have that out of order . I don’t really have a problem with anything True has said . Didn’t seem selfish or about him to me. I’ve never been a fan of Boo. Not that I wanted her to die even if it’s just a comic strip. The first or second day we met her she ripped a short kid because he didn’t know who Boo Radley was. From that day forth I’ve had the same opinion of her as R.P. McMurphy had of Nurse Ratchet.
