This Week in Milford

“You Notice How True is the Only Player Gil Talks To?” “Yup.”

Today’s strip is an apparent homage to Andy Rooney and Gary Cooper.

Nice Jiffy Pop/Super Mario Bros. lids on the Mudlarks there. Equally nice: a cameo by Milk (or is it Cheese?) perched on Kaz’s shoulder. Trifecta of nice: the passive-aggressive, Hermey the Elf-like answer from True. Coming Monday: Pissy-faced Gil tells his golden mouthpiece to go make nice and play catch with Master Bader.

  1. Thanks for the Hermey soundbite. Merry Christmas in July.

  2. Gil :”What’s the story with you guys and Barry?”
True: “The story started April 11th, and you were in several panels since then. Mrs. Bader asked you to talk to Barry almost two weeks ago, and you reminded him that ‘feelings are still raw’. He forgot what you said while you were still saying it. Surely someone told you about Ken Brown’s verbal smackdown after the Oakwood game, when Barry reminded us of his brilliance. Most people would already know what’s happening, but apparently you can’t put two and two together and at least get ‘more than three’. Also, Barry called us blankety-blanks in yesterday’s thought balloon”.

  3. Notice the eyes shifting to the left in P-3, away from eye contact with Gildeau… Is the adage–reflecting & looking to the left, means BS is about to follow? Or is it the other way around? Of course “all teenagers are liars”—Judge Judy…..

  4. “Yup”
    Aye, we’re in Manleyburg.
Dry gulch the scurvy lads. No wenches in this sea!

  5. Gil obviously got blackout drunk immediately after his meeting with Barry. Not that he should need to remember that meeting to realize that Barry is an asshole and his dad is responsible for the death of their beloved classmate what’s-her-name.

  6. Milk & Cheese reference doesn’t make this storyline worth it — not by a long shot — but I do appreciate the hell out of it. :-D

The only “gin makes a man MEAN!” picture I found was on Pinterest (ugh) & I don’t feel like digging through my comics for it, but I did find this one where Milk & Cheese foreshadow Del Bader’s defense in court.
