And the plotline wheel spins round and round

Filed under: Exploding Eyeball Syndrome, Gil Thorp, Trainer Rick Scott — robmize2013 @ 8:21 pm

Yeah I got plenty of playing time Friday – been out in the dark almost every day with the sun going down and a truckload of parcels. But back to the story. Trainer Rick leaked Heathers non-injury to Gil, and he will now punish her for this malfeasance by throwing her to the wolves, or whoever theyre playing Friday. Is he teaching her a lesson in integrity or just telling her – if you cant be one of the regular players, then you cant be on the team. No more special treatment Missy.

  1. Well, thank goodness the trainer is on the ball – he just takes the kid’s word that they’re OK. That’s why he makes the big bucks. Not sure why Gil makes them, other than no one else on earth wants his job.

  2. Where in the world are they in Panel 2? The big MFNRD sign behind them suggests the sideline, but Heather is sitting on one of the chairs from my parents’ kitchen set from the 1950s.

  3. P1: “Coach, your eye looks bloodshot. Too much Vodka before the game? I know coaching can be stressful. I promise I won’t tell Coach Thorp.”
“Uh, Actually, Heather, I’m a Born-Again Christian. Nothing stronger than Tang. It’s just that every once in a while I have Exploding Eye Syndrome. Sometimes my eye pops out and I have to screw it back into place. It’s no fun looking like a zombie.”
“Have you tried Visine? I got some in my purse by the bench if you need it.”
“Thanks for the offer but I’m fine. Got some in my medical kit. That and some epoxy really do the trick. I tried Elmer’s Glue but my eye kept popping out at the worst times, like when we were coaching suicide drills or getting my tray at the school cafeteria. It was no fun fishing it out of the chocolate mousse.”
P2: Is Rick Scott treating Heather or proposing to her?
