Same Ball, Same Game

Today may be the lowest threshold yet established for me to apply the ‘actual action’ tag…. But I suppose we’ll take it.

I’m not sure how much later Mike Granger’s blooper comes, but I suppose we’re to understand that the volcano is currently throwing a shutout. Good for him!

  1. It’s easy to see how Granger’s bloop got through, what with the Tilghman fielder looking for mushrooms instead of following the game.

  2. Funny to see Barry Bader’s name rattled off like he’s just one of the guys, rather than the most ostracized kid in Milford as he was last spring. Apropos of nothing, The Baader-Meinhof Gang showed up in my news feed this morning. Also, whenever I see this guy in a Mets box score I’m reminded of The Secret Pelwecki, who’s been very secretive this season.

  3. Agree with trench. Not only was Barry the most disliked player, but when last we saw him, he’d been emotionally scarred by his dad’s imprisonment. We’re just forgetting all that?

  4. What if the Central City girls showed up in stripes and numbers to needle Bader? I know, that’s more of a Valley Tech trick (“Now batting, number 5479443..”

  5. I agree, vaganova, about P3. Either that’s James Brown(Godfather of Soul, YES!!!!!!!) gettin’ it on at the Boston gig, 1968, accompanied by a few fans who managed to get on stage past the riot-control police and perform similar moves or it’s a variation of a Texas 2-Step seen with the Country Line Dancing crowd on The Nashville Network. Did the Tilghman manager work on that in practice? It shows. Gotta be prepared for those Texas Leaguers anytime in the game.

  6. T Drew’s mention of Texas leaguers got me thinking about the name Tilghman. The only one I know of is an island in the Chesapeake Bay. Let’s see if Mfnrd goes on to play Easton, Salisbury, Nanticoke, and other Eastern Shore burgs.

  7. Like Vaganova suggestion of the Central City gals showing up in prison stripes and hollering out a prison number for Bader. I think every Mudlark would enjoy the ribbing.

  8. Tilghman High School is a large school in Paducah, Kentucky. Tilghman has fielded a football team since 1904. Lloyd Tilghman, was a CSA Brigadier General. His family funded the original school…
