Old scoops never die, they just wind up at Milford

I always thought women who wore glasses looked more authoritative, and that now includes Ms. Rizk, who shoots down Dafnes big idea for a scoop. Thats what the teachers are there for- theyre older, wiser, and less likely to jump to conclusions on a big story thats at least a year old. Thats also what editors are there for at a regular newspaper- to review all the stories before theyre sent to the presses for publication to the masses. I went to a library discussion hosted by a political newspaper columnist a few years ago and she said everything she writes has to be approved by her editor.

Isnt  the Trumpet a print newspaper? Why does Rizk connect online trouble with a print story? It was presumable covered somewhere last year, either in print or cyberspace, unless the bald guy filled Dafne in entirely and that was the extent. In that case she’s right. No need to make him look worse then he is. But I think ‘ rest of his life’ is stretching it.

Thats about all I have gang, this was a tough one to dissect since its pretty much on the money.

  1. My son’s high school newspaper has both print and online versions presently, so that may explain why she’s Rizk-averse.

  2. Being arrested here in USA is no big deal. The concept of “officer’s discretion” allows the pigs (not real police officers) to get their jollies popping people for trivia. It’s on your record & is a big deal. So no telling whether any serious offense by ‘cane’ occurred if indeed he was arrested. The teacher is correct in keeping dafne on a short leash. Not to mention the legal liabilities of $$$$. Juvy records are sealed anyway, so send Dafne on a snipe hunt. Dafne should reveal her sources to the teacher. Tell her she expects a ‘cheering section’ at next game. Then leave it to Rizik to see Gildeau. Dafne NEEDS to get out of the loop…

The ‘cheering section’ makes me recollect on Rick Pitino’s reception at WVU a few years back…

  3. We seem to be reaching a consensus. I suspect this will be disrupted on game day. But for the record, I agree with the advisor. This is not much of a story in the present, and the damage from running it is hard to overestimate. Rubin is usually pretty good about supplying clues, and if there was reason to think Ryan might be a hazard at Mfnrd HS we would definitely know by now. She– or her advisor– needs to talk to Gil, not to Central City storytellers.
