Good News Is Trouble-Free

062017

Well, the mystery of Skip Farrow wrapped up pretty quickly. Speaking of, Skip sure does have an interesting take on the situation. Since everybody except the Cane is graduating, there shouldn’t be any issues… And, since graduation should’ve happened about a month ago, we really should be in the clear.

Bonus points:

The ‘leader’ of the ‘protest’ is almost as tall as Skip.

I love the clock on the window in panel one.

Bonus questions:

What is on the back of that student’s shirt?

Why does Skip have to call Gil from a wall phone?

What is supposed to be displayed over the window in panel two? I’m thinking worst drawing of the solar system ever.

  1. The clock on the window is only the beginning! It appears there is some kind of lounge behind the window, but you can see the outdoors through yet another window farther away. Hard to tell which window holds the clock. But I do think Central’s architecture (not to mention the mysterious emblem on the student’s shirt in panel 1) may have something to do with the story: Central is in an alternate reality.

  2. How did Skip Farrow “track down” the leader of the protest? What did he have to go on? Did he get details from Ryan, via Gil? Did he just wander the halls asking if anybody knew who the three girls were who took a sign to Milford? It seems like what Skip would have to do would have been such a fishing expedition, that he would have been totally justified telling Gil to screw.

I guess I should have remembered Gil’s post game handshake with Skip on June 7. But we didn’t know if Skip was his actual name.

  3. If Skip is the coach, he should know who was on the bus to Mfnrd, no? Pretty easy to ask the team snitch who the 3 crazy girls with the sign were.

I think the thing on the back is a bong. Central City tough chaps carry them around to wag a finger at authority, don’t you know?

  4. Good to see Beau Bridges getting work again.

  5. So the “good news” is that everybody involved is about to graduate, so we can sweep the whole thing under the rug?

    That IS good news.

  6. Ryan was ready for a comeuppance on the road trip to Central City. Maybe a wild pitch in the stands, a mooning or firecrackers under the bleachers. But Czar Gil is keeping him home for that game. Ryan will transfer again so Gil will be trouble free next year anyway. What a schmendrick!!

  7. And we get the same ending that we get every season — Gilberto lazily sits on his ass and does nothing while the situation eventually resolves itself….
