He’s Coherent – Unlike Most Gil Thorp Plots

Filed under: football, Gil Thorp, lame jokes, Neal's friends — teenchy @ 1:56 pm

When last we saw Sam Finn, he was the guard/long snapper and temporary punter until Kaz could coerce Joe Bolek out of the screening room and into the locker room. Since that time he’s lost his freckles and gained a True Standish mullet, a potato nose, and a sense of humor. Drawing one from the “Other than that, how was the show, Mrs. Lincoln?” playbook, Sam tries to convince everybody he’s okay until he’s not.

Ever-conscientious Gil is all over the EMTs to make sure they take Sam to the ER to get checked out. Nothing like showing the players, their parents and Marjie that he puts the players’ health and safety first. Maybe he should’ve thought about that before he let them eat greasy sloppy joes in the heat of the midday sun before sending them back on the field.

Now it remains to be seen how conditioning will be a recurring theme this fall, much like concussions were the season before last.

  1. Teenchy, just remember,

Only mad dogs, Englishmen, and Mudlarks eat Steak ‘n’ Shake burgers in the hot sun, then practice long-yardage situations.

Didn’t Cocker list that as one of his albums?

  2. Thanks for the compliment T Drew. As always you’re the goods.
Hey Gil, ease up! Seems to be strong arming the female EMT. He would bully a woman. Learn that from New Thayer? You turd!

  3. With that squinty, disdainful look Gil has in P3, it seems like he’s delivering the cliched quote where the criminal kingpin tells his henchmen to dispose of the good guy: “and you’re taking him for a ride, right?”.
With a name like Sam Finn, perhaps it is appropriate he should ‘sleep with the fishes’ , eh, criminal kingpin Gil?

  4. Finn (is he possibly The Mighty Finn? This would explain his heat intolerance) is sweating, so it’s probably not heatstroke. We may have to cross the comics page to get Rex Morgan to rule on this. Right now Rex is busy running off a New Age fraud who has been scamming one of his patients, but I am sure that just like Wally Lamb, he would be glad to jump in pro bono.

  5. Still think it would be appropriate for that dipshit Tiki to be the one down

  6. RE: Gil’s shirt in P3, Christopher Hastings, author of, among other things, Dr. McNinja (the story of a doctor who is also a ninja) one time made a joke about how the next time he had to draw a polo short he was going to take a good look at one beforehand. Just sayin’…
