A Shot of MYOB With a Cup of STFU Chaser

gt10232019

Something tells me Chet Ballard strikes out with his wife on a regular basis. Probably why we haven’t seen any siblings for Charlie. Maybe he’ll get lucky at school.

I’m not sure if this unnamed school board lady is the same one Ballard went to when he wanted to make a test case out of Tiki Jansen (in which case her name is Carol), but for the sake of today’s post let’s assume she is. Carol’s seen enough of Chet’s crap to know this needs to be nipped in the bud. This being mid-October, however, it’s too early for Chet to let this go.

So who does Ballard turn to next? Marty Moon? He has been known to let Milfordians (Milfordites?) go on the air and put their feet in their mouths. Seeing as it’s his town, Marty might decide there’s only room for one bearded blowhard. That leaves Marjie Ducey, Gil himself, or a billboard outside Milford.

  2. Shouldn’t it be three billboards outside Milford? (I really enjoy Woody Harrelson).
Now we actually have something to look forward to – unusual for this late in October, when we’ve typically given up on the story. Which will happen first? Chance having a meltdown and getting suspended from the team, or Chet getting exposed and ejected from the school board?
(Can’t remember if Howry used three billboards or one billboard three times – t)

  3. @Philip – or, even better, Chance getting ‘blowtop mad’ at Chet and rearranging his beard and face. That way, Chet can get a better idea of what a ‘menace’ Chance really is.

  4. I was about to say “How does a complete jackhole like Chet Ballard get elected to the school board?” except that Chet Ballard is EXACTLY the kind of jackhole that gets elected to school boards.

  5. It’s a mystery how Chets get elected, all right. We have a major aerospace manufacturer in the next town, and its higher ups frequently get elected to our board. They love to bang the boardroom table and cry “You people need to run this school like a BUSINESS!” despite the fact schools and businesses have different goals and virtually nothing in common. When these earaches got elected, I always wanted to go into their boardroom, slap the table, and shout “You people need to run this business like a school!”

  6. 1. Um… Where the hell was this school board member all those seasons in the past where Gilberto/Wife of Gilberto/Kazuo/The Daily Milfordian did the SAME exact thing Ballard is doing? The only difference is they could illegally dig up dirt on a character’s past history or private home life and then treat said playing in a hyper passive aggressive manner while keeping their mouths shut and only during the last two weeks of the season does it all come out… Maybe she wasn’t elected yet?

    2. It’s funny because Ballard’s constant rage has given him erectile dysfunction…

  7. The way she uses the word “laws” gives me concern that the law firm of EvB + HvB + JQ will be invited back in to kick Chet’s ass, once again.

  8. Excellent title, Teenchy.
And the commentary is hoppin’ today. Not even gonna try. Just kick back and enjoy.

  9. P 1.5: “…getting rid of Chance so my boy Charlie can get more touches IS my business, Carol…”

  10. Wow, just in case you missed Tuesday’s strip, today’s strip is an almost shot for shot remake that moves the plot forward almost not at all. In any case, we are getting a lot of freak hand action so that’s something I suppose.

  11. […] Carol, who really hasn’t acted very friendly toward Chet. I guess offering advice to mind his own business instead of immediately ratting him out to the rest of the school board qualifies as friendship in […]
