Putting Mussels on Our Ears

Welcome to the year 2020, where Dippin’ Dots are still The Ice Cream of the Future, the halls of Milford High are still as shiny as ever and girls in Milford are still wearing huge earrings.  Alexa and her sidekick appear to have made theirs from mussel shells.

Sidekick there seems to have forgotten that athletic prowess and academic ranking aren’t exactly correlated.  Dropping one’s field goal percentage doesn’t drop one from valedictorian to salutatorian.  Conversely, wishing athletic success to one’s academic competition doesn’t raise one’s class rank, either.  If that were the case, wishing academic failure on one’s competition would lower one’s class rank even further.  Schadenfreude is not a good look on anybody but one, I expect, we’ll see with increasing frequency throughout this arc.

Now Alexa’s off to the MHS Medical Center where she’ll visit a freshly hammered Teddy DeMarco.  Wait, what?  It’s the MHS Media Center?  Cool.  She can listen to the musical inspiration for today’s post title.

  1. Haha…Alexa sure is funny the way she worries about Chris’ position in the class, especially since he don’t seem to give a fuck about what she does or even know what she does.

  2. The only way to tie up the various plot threads in this before baseball begins in June is to have Alexa unexpectedly knock the crap out of Teddy DeMarco, on the model of Kenzie Hanley. But that’s wishful thinking. Fellow Mfnrdians know that in my pantheon of virtuous violence, Kenzie’s lightning elbow (“You woke my yaw!”) is right up there with Herk the Mauler’s destruction of the two punks and Kaz’s “Ease up, friend” at the Gail Martin concert.

  3. Great call, Teenchy. It is a shame Squeeze was one of the more underrated band around and never got full credit for their sound. They’re tops in my book. You da Man.

Vaganova, I agree with you. This has all the trappings of Krazy Kat. Ignatz Mouse hates Krazy Kat but Krazy Kat is infatuated with Ignatz Mouse while Officer Bull Pupp has a thing for Krazy Kat and none for Ignatz Mouse and…well, it’s like Alexa can’t stand Chris while Marcia Brady hangs on Alexa and buys her lunch at The Bucket while Teddy despises Chris and like Ignatz Mouse, throws bricks at him while Office Bull Thorpp can’t coach and we won’t fully appreciate that until April because this plot is so many pretzels twisted in so many different directions and…Aaaaaa, you get the idea.

“Oh, my girls must really love my coaching. Throw some more bricks, Ladies “
