Will The Mayor Be Ready??

Filed under: ?, general nonsense, Just plain sad — nedryerson @ 5:35 am

A bright, brisk Spring morning sees Tom Muench pick up Mark Godleski. So this is the beginning of the new plot. Tom Muench was name checked a few times in the just ended crapshow that was the Schuring/Watson, um, show of crap. Godleski is probably new. I don’t think I remember his name. Billy?

I have two questions so far. What is going on with Muench’s car? Does he go mudding in his four door sedan? Maybe he lives on a dirt road. I guess this is Spring in Milford. Dirty, melting snow on the roads could be involved. Does Muench’s ride have undercoating?

The second question concerns “The Mayor”. I assume it’s a nickname, like Ossie Davis’ character in Do The Right Thing. (Technically he was “Da Mayor“.)  Anybody nicknamed The Mayor in this context has the inside track as standout self-aggrandizing character for this season’s plot.

  1. Wondering if they’d do something 2020? This pair is the most 1955 with a Toyota imaginable.

  2. I guess it’s official that the Schuring-Watson plot has ended on the flattest note in years, with condescension thrown in. All that potential and we end up with a quip? Whigrub has even tossed the crowd-pleasing panel in which Alexa puts her hands on his shoulders, smiles sweetly, and knees him. I

And after several years of being free of boy attorneys, boy publicists, and boy coaches, the nickname “the mayor” fills me with dread. When I was in high school, in the upper mesolithic, “the mayor” was the term for people who thought they were far more prominent than they actually were.

  3. The car could be some jalopy that has bondo all over it and I’m sure that “the Mayor” is the latest cocky jag-off to grace the GT comic. He probably gave himself that nickname too, sort of like Jamar “the ghost” Gaddis did

  4. Like vaganova, I’m familiar with “the mayor” being used to describe a self-important person, one whose imagined connections and influence are far greater inside their heads than outside. I remember it being used jokingly by farmers who greeted one another at country stores before they sat down and chewed the fat over a bottle of Coca-Cola filled with salted peanuts. ‘Well, if it ain’t The mayor of Hazzard County! Howdy, Mr. Mayor.”

  5. Nope. It’s really the mayor. These enchanting young people are going to take him for a one way ride. Why? Because the mayor decided to use his Toilet Pritzker like powers and shutdown the Bucket. No carry outs even. NO FUN OF ANY KIND!! Here’s hoping they hang him dangling by his feet from the tank by the railroad tracks.

  6. 1. “The Mayor” has to either be Sean Casey or some big, lumbering, universally liked kid who’s a Sean Casey avatar…

    2. What the hell state is Milford in? I always believed Ohio.

  7. He made up his dumb nickname himself and takes offense to anyone who doesn’t call him ‘the Mayor’, sort of like Frnacis

  8. One of many great scenes in Stripes. Good call Frank.

  9. I will say this much: One time I took it into my head to actually draft an outline of a 13 week ‘season’ of Gil Thorp. I do not regret to inform you that it rapidly fell towards the bottom of my to-do list so I can see where Rubin is coming from. Then again, he gets paid for this while I spend too much time commenting here than I ought to already.
