This Week in Milford

Do Cleats Get Tougher As You Use Them?

Phoebe is now giving Corina the nickel tour of Milford High School. Over there is the flagpole where Barry Bader was hoisted by his underwear. Over there is where Daphne Dafonte tripped on her own haircut. That small section of chain link fence stands as a memorial to Clambake. etc. etc.

Phoebe wants the real lowdown on Corina’s mother’s arson wrap. Did she really do that? Corina doesn’t answer definitely, but doesn’t dispute the story either. Corina’s mom is tough and she’s been through some shit, alright? This probably isn’t her first Phoebe Keener who finds the stories of Corina’s family’s struggles so colorful and shocking. Corina’s already wondering how much gossip is going to spread in Milford in advance of her going to school there (if we are going there).

  1. Why the heck is this post down here?

Okay, answered my own question. Somehow, the previous two posts got selected to be “stuck to the top” of the page of TWIM. So it may have appeared at first glance that there wasn’t a new post as it was below the previous two. This one should be back at the top for now.

  2. Corina “No-Neck” Karina and Phoebe “Potato Chip Ass” Keener are a funny lookin’ couple out for a stroll on the school grounds as ‘Pheebs gleefully points out one irrelevant fact after another

  3. 1. LOL Peppermint Patty’s mom is suffering from a severe mental/emotional imbalance and is an arsonist (and possibly an attempted murderer) so yeah, let’s crack jokes, amirite?

    2. Why does Patty need a detailed, multi-day tour of Milford? She isn’t thinking about moving here from Alaska, she literally lives in the same damn county! And why all the questions about quality of life? It’s not like she has a hell of a lot of options to transfer to, and literally anything has to be a step up from Valley Mod, right??

    3. Patty is *so* thirsty she ought to be ashamed of herself… She wants to be a part of the “kids with a possible future” crowd at Milford so bad…

  6. @nedryerson: I might have had something to do with that whole stuck to the top thing. If I did it was unintentional. Mea maxima culpa.

@franku2016: lol at “Potato Chip Ass.”

P2 reminded me of the scene from Crimes of the Heart where they find Sissy Spacek with her head in the oven.

  7. Psycho and toughness aren’t the same thing. And please don’t bore us with the details.

  8. Ned, P2 reminds me of the time Jay Leno appeared on Letterman’s show before Leno hit it big. Leno read this article about this one person was brutally murdered and his body dumped in some abandoned building in New York City. As the article is discussing the gruesome details, the article pointed out that the culprit, being booked for murder, was a friend of the victim.
As Leno said, y’know, it’s a good thing the argument didn’t escalate. Things could have gotten ugly fast.
Corina’s mom was just trying to kiss and make up with her own mother when she threw the match at the house.
