That’ll Be All, Tom

Filed under: Gil Thorp — nedryerson @ 1:16 pm

Doug Guthrie’s dad teaches pursuit driving to cops. I heard that before somewhere but it bears repeating because the stultifying pace of this plot is enough to make you beat your head against the wall until you forget everything. So Tom and Doug are out cruising around in Doug’s all weather vehicle and…wait, are they gonna get pulled over again?? Did Officer Wilbon forget to check Doug’s fluid levels and give him his green stamps.

Meanwhile Vic is hanging with, wait are these two guys Vic’s “go-to’s:? They’re suddenly showing up wherever Vic goes. If these guys are Vic’s pals who sit around playing grab ass under the pretense of gaming, they’re gonna be out on there ears when Vic has Tessi over for some Netflix and calculus. Anything can happen!

  1. Wait, what? A Michael Wilbon name drop in TWIM? I’d thought I’d heard the last of him after he left the WaPo.

  2. Let’s make this interesting. Cop just told kid to slow tf down, yet he doesn’t. Kid gets pulled over again and pulls the same stupid ‘do you know who I am? line’. Cop sez ‘I don’t give a fuck who your dumb ass dad is….get your ass out of the car …NOW goddammit….’ Kid gets out but keeps running his mouth. Cop has enough and tasers kid. Tells kid….’by the way…your dad is a dick…I never liked him..’…Butt Muench gets video on his phone and posts it to all social media. Sends it to Marty Moon. Marty reports that ‘Thorp runs a loose ship and has no control over his players…has a gear-head kid on the team who would rather race cars than play ball….. Hilarity ensues

  3. 1. This entitled asshole does realize that his dad doing an occasional favor for local yokel cops doesn’t give him the freedom to drive around like it’s Grand Theft Auto V, right? And I guess we’re just going to ignore the fact that it’s below freezing, it’s snowing, the roads are wet and/or icy, and Dale Earnhardt III is doing 70 in a residential area?

    2. I can fully understand a couple of nerds lounging on the couch and playing the HD remaster of Devil May Cry and its sequels, but they are really close right now… I mean uncomfortably close… As in their hands are almost touching.

2a. And given their perspective, isn’t Vic standing at least partially in the way of the TV screen?

2b. And why in the world would someone like Tessi ever give Vic her cell number?

2c. I presume that neon colored kid is supposed to be Asian? FFS…

  4. I mean, what girl in her right mind is going to want a date with Alvin the Chipmunk? She turns on her phone and THAT’S the visage she sees on the screen? Please.

  7. @Hitorque – Even worse, purple Miami Vice jacket guy’s left hand is not visible. It may be underneath his buddy.

@teenchy – Holy cow, that’s an awesome find if it in in fact the same cop. Which again, raises my complaint, why can’t they draw Luhm in the background in hallway shots once in a while?
